Oven Door Hard to Open

This Panasonic was purchased to replace a 3-1/2 year old similar-sized GE-Profile that failed. Relative to the GE, the Panasonic door latch requires significantly more force. To prevent oven movement, we cut slots in two 1/4" plywood pieces and wedged them behind the rear oven feet and the cabinet shelf back. We also experimented and found pressing the door button near the top required less effort than at the bottom. All this is important because the extra force stresses the mechanism. Other reviewers have complained about having to replace door opener parts. I now understand why. (Why hasn't Panasonic redesigned this long-standing door defect?) I recommend potential buyers compare door opening mechanisms in the store before buying. Several minor use efficiency differences between the Panasonic and GE-Profile include: the 'add time' button is 60 seconds instead of 30 and more keystrokes are required to initiate simple heating tasks. Why not buy another GE? Other reviewers complained about premature failure. I now understand why. Ending with a positive note, the overall heating/cooking is very good, the same as the GE, and unlike some reviewers we found the noise level acceptable and no interference with nearby electronic devices.

Overall, a great appliance.

Easy to set up, and learn to use. The reheat option works great. My only complaint is how poorly it is packaged for shipping, though it arrived intact with no damage, the same could not be said for the box.

Wife loves it

Got this for $159 +tax and free shipping to the house. Also bought the 2 year extended Geek Squad warranty. Oven shipped and arrived quickly. Discovered the next day that the front of the box was stabbed with something that went right into the glass front of the door. Called Best Buy and had the most painless return call in my life. While I was on the phone with a knowledgeable lady, she re-shipped the replacement! She said I would recieve a return label with shipping paid. I have not recieved the label yet. The oven is working great. I like the sensor reheat feature which senses humidity. I also like the popcorn button that allows choices of volume sizes. I have not cooked a meal using the manual's recipes yet, but I want to see if the oven can really cook that stuff and taste good. We do miss opening the door with a handle. Probably went to manufacturing with the button because of how light in weight it is. Pulling a handle might pull the oven off of the counter. Keep preaching to the kids to go easy on the door opening button. If I can add to this later, I will.

Product Good, Packing not Good from Manufacturer

The product is excellent - the problem is with the manufacturer. They do not do a good packing job so the item gets scratched during shipment (it is a black glass finish). I had to order two microwaves and they came the same why...I also went to look at them in a store same way. But I am very happy with the product's use. The vendor did give me some % off for the inconvenience.

i looked at many other microwaves, for the size and price i thought it was a good buy, and the help in the store was very good at answering all my questions, i am very happy with this item.

Overall a great product

Many great features and very well made, as I would expecf from Panasonic. Very good value with very few negitives. The automatic sensors seem to work very well for most foods. My biggest complaint is having to push power level button, multiple times, to reduce power instead of simply entering a number like some models. Also I fail to understand why white is $10 more than black but no really big deal. Overall, I would recomend this product over most of the more expensive models.

Almost too good

Great quality, fantastic price, big enough for a 9x11 casserole dish. The only MINOR drawback is it has 1250W of power and that means there's a bit of a learning curve on how much time/power to use since most microwave directions specify a 1000W oven. Kind of like getting behind the wheel of a sports car after driving a 4cyl station wagon for years... Once you get used to that this microwave is great.

Great, Super Sized Micro

Too bad they don't offer this unit in the stores. But, on the other hand I was able to buy the micro cheaper and have it delivered to my door. I just had to wait a couple of extra days and it was worth it. The micro is the largest countertop I could find with the highest wattage available. It cooks fast and thoroughly (see above comments on overall rating). At this point I am totally pleased and recommend the unit to anyone that needs/wants a larger micro. Charlie

over 4yrs later

We bought this microwave over 4 years ago. The microwave still works just as well as the day we brought it home, and has been through heavy use. When I say Heavy use please understand I have five people in my family and we use it several times every single day. This poor machine has been through war. It has lived through spills, slams, a forgotten fork, and button mashing galore. If it is tough enough to survive my three boys for over 4yrs, I can say with certainty that this is one tough, well built machine! I would absolutely recommend this machine to anyone.

I love it.

Don't you just love it when you read a review, and the person only owned the product for a few hours to a couple of days? Well, read on. I purchased this microwave over 1-1/2 years ago, and I just love it. I had seen this model and knew I wanted it, but I could not find it when I was ready to purchase. This unit replaced a m/w that was used a lot--not just making popcorn or reheating, but making full meals. The cavity in this one is outstanding. I noticed others are not as pleased with this model, but I know most of my friends that have a m/w just put their food in it and set the timer. If you cook something on the stove, you don't just cook everything on high heat--or you will be discouraged. I did have one minor problem when I first purchased this: I would place something in it, and after a couple of minutes, it would stop and give me an error msg, which I looked up in the manual, and followed the instructions. Then it gave me a different error msg, which instructed me to contact Panasonic's Customer Service. I called them--they were very pleasant and had me do some things to see if the problem was resolved, but the problem was not corrected. I did have to take it to an authorized Panasonic service center. They also were very pleasant. I had my oven back in about a week. He just gave me a receipt for the work that was done (no charge, of course). He told me that something was not done right in the factory, and I had the work receipt in case I needed it in the future. It has worked wonderfully since. I did not like the fact that I had to truck on down to take this in, but the service that both Customer Service and the Repair Center provided made me feel more comfortable that I bought a product that they pleasantly stand behind. Also, a few months later I went to see my sister up North, and she just had to have the Stainless Steel version of this same model. She did not even know that I purchased this one.

LOVE THIS MICROWAVE

I absolutely dont agree with past reviews, I have had mine for 3 years now! I dont have any issues with being cheap made, or noisy. I like the sensor cook and reheat options as well as the quick minute button. Love the invertor technology because it heats and cooks from the inside out so my foods still not cold in the center. Best Microwave ever purchased at a great price. Makes baked potatoes to perfection, I clean and refresh mine by boiling water and lemon juice for about 8 mins, this makes it easier to wipe out stuck on messes and make it smell good too. Never spray cleaner on the inside this will cause many issues.

Don't waste your money

Very large window, heats great when it works. Reheat function works great, and it was awesome for doing baked potatoes. Too bad its made so cheaply. Door latch just suddenly popped on me and as someone else mentioned its just cheaper to buy a new one then to try to fix it. Shame too because it was a great microwave when it worked. With that said I will be going to another brand.

Sudden Death

The first one (same model) we bought sounded like a train, so we took it back and received this. The train should have beeen a warning. It was working fine then, all of a sudden, after 15 months, the oven died. The heat sensor was a good feature. It basically was an OK oven until this lack of quality turned it to an inoperable item for the trash.

Don't buy this microwave

I agree with other reviewers on this - bad quailty, had one when we bought our house. It went out and we replaced it with the same model. Big mistake, now two years later we'll switch to another brand. This unit has terrible quality.

big mistake

It should have lasted more than 2 years of occasional use, but it did not. A relative purchased one also, it went out. Met a customer at the store looking for a replacement unit- he had a panasonic that quit also. Microwaves Cost more to fix than to replace.

Good Buy

This panasonic microwave is a heating machine. It is very spacious for the internal capacity available. It is great for heating large portions and dishes for the family. It heats plates thouroughly and evenly.

Great product

Works as advertised. Lots of room. Love the sensor cook and heat inverter. Looks great except for the fingerprints from opening and closing door.
