  • Great Projector for a inhome Theater on a Budgit

Great Projector with features of Projectors that cost two to three times as much, All HD channels along with DVD and Blue-ray movies are outstanding. With a 3D ready feature will be looking forward to trying it out later. Recieved this just in time for Superbowl, what a differance in watching Football and Hockey in HD on a 109" screen. " IT'S AWSOME"

  • Once you go HD projector, you never go back!

I was previously using a 57" Toshiba DLP HDTV that I was more than satisfied with. I always wanted a projector but they seemed economically out of reach for me. Three months ago I decided to give the HD66 a try while fully intending to take it back if it didn't like it. Well, my Toshiba DLP is for sale and I will never go back to a TV again. The picture is absolutely stunning and accurate on my 120" Elite screen. Movies, sports, HD broadcast tv shows - all incredible. Why anyone would settle for a mere HDTV in their entertainment room (if you have the space for a projector) is beyond me. And to the person below who gave this 1 star, have you considered that maybe it was incorrectly calibrated? Or maybe somehow you got a defective unit? I paid $1500+tax for my Toshiba. But for my Optima HD66 I paid $650.00, and another $120.00 for my screen. So for half the price of my HDTV, I have more than twice the screen size, just as beautiful a picture, I have quadrupled the "fun-factor" of my entertainment room with a more "theater-like" feel, and last but not least, this projector is 3-D ready if I decide to explore that route later down the line. Do yourself a favor look into the possibilities availiable with the Optoma HD66. You can't lose!!!

  • great value

The HD66 is a great price for the features that you get. 1080p capable via HDMI, 720p capable via other inputs. It's listed as a 16:9 ratio display, but it's actually a 16:10. The projector is 3D capable but requires you to have glasses to use it. Very crisp picture. Very bright, even with the lights on. Comes out of the box in performance mode. Turn it down to Eco mode as soon as you can. Fan noise is pretty noticable in performance mode and it gets HOT! You won't be able to adjust certain functions until you have a signal running in to the projector. This is because different resolutions will display differently, so make sure you have a signal running into it when you're ready to set it up. The big limitation is in the installation. The projector always projects at the same angle regardless of what settings you use. This means that you have to mount it either high or low. There's no mid height mounting ability and that if you mount it high, it has to be upside down (setting it for high, flips the display over to account for the upside down projector). This means that you can't just set it on a shelf on the wall above your couch. Although you can mount it upside down to the bottom of the shelf. Another factor in the installation is the size of the display that you want to project. The "zoom" function is really only for fine tuning your display size. Mine is displaying on a screen about 14ft away and the display size can only be adjusted about 6 inches. This means that the distance of your projector's mount point from your screen is a function of the size that you want to display and not necessarily one of convenience. All in all, if you have a space where you a fairly flexible range of where the projector can be mounted, I'd definitely recommend this projector. If your projector has to go in a very specific spot a very specific distance from your screen and you're still expecting a very specific size image, this projector isn't for you. p.s. There's another review up where the reviewer complains about color quality. That was either a defective projector, or the reviewer was just shining the projector on an off color wall. My projector had very good color/contrast.

  • Color is very distorted

Color Distortion: bright projector, but the color is terribly distorted with the redish-yellowish backroud (such as human skin, face portrait), Problem occurs under all modes: movie, bright, presentation, etc. I use HDMI Cable so this is no connection problem. You can adjust color become nature only if you disable the BriliantColor function by setting it to 0-2. but then the brightness is totally compromised, the picture will become very dim. Resolution: This is a 16:10 projector, NOT 16:9, which is mistakenly stated on many website as native 1280x720. The real native resolution is 1280x800. I dont know why the picture become gray and much darker if you use standard 16:9 mode: 1280x720@60Hz. Overall: HD66 is absolutely not a choice for people who prefer color quality. But it's okay to be a low level buisness projector which needs more brightness rather than color/contrast. Very Disappointed
