Best router for multiple wi-fi devices
I was tired of my girlfriend streaming video while I would play on the PS3 and it would interfere with my gaming. This router allowed me to play and my girlfriend can stream all the videos she wants. We are both happy =)

Avoid like the plague!
Please read all of the negative reviews listed below. In fact just search this router on Google. You will see a continuing problem of this particular router having difficulty staying connected to the internet. Isn't that the primary goal of this equipment? Mine would stay connected for a maximum of 5-7 minutes...no exaggeration. It would take an entire reboot of the cable modem (including removing the battery) to get connected again. Only to have the same issues again several minutes later. I took the N600 back and went back to trusty old Linksys with the E3200; I haven't had a single problem. Don't push your luck with this Netgear router; there are better options out there.

Fantastic Router
So I bought this router after exchanging the model above it the N750. The N750 has major issues but this router might be it's little brother but this thing flies. The setup was a breeze took all of 10 minutes. The wireless speed is fantasic and the range is incredible i have a 2600 square foot house and I have full signal everywhere in the house. The wired gigabit ports are excellent it also has the gigabit wan port which is a very big plus for high speed internet users. I would suggest buying this router it's dual band and has guest access feature. it's got pretty much everything a router should have.

GOOD WHEN IT WORKS
I DECEIDED THAT IT WAS TIME FOR ME TO MOVE FORWARD TO THE NEW DUAL BAND , WRONG !! A GOOD WIRELESS N 2.4 IS STILL BETTER . I BOUGHT THIS ROUTER AND I WAS HAPPY AT FIRST BUT HAPPINESS WAS SHORT LIVED . I WILL NOT GO INTO A LONG STORY BUT GIVE YOU PRO'S AND CON'S PRO'S : 2.4 GHz RANGE NICE VIDEO MODE FAST ( WHEN I USED IT A 35 MIN DOWN LOAD THAT TOOK 15 MIN TO DOWNLOAD TOOK 10 MIN ) CON'S : 88 DAYS OF TECH SUPPORT 5GHz 3 OUT OF 5 BARS SIGNAL DROPS CONSTANTLY SET OUT OF FACTORY FOR 54MBP'S BUT BRAGGS ABOUT 300MBP'S

Outstanding Product
I had to replace my Linksys 8-port router and Wireless-G gateway. I bought this unit after reading several reviews. I have to say, the product has lived up to its reputation and was a complete breeze to install. I haven't had any problems with the unit, and was even able to set up "Guest Access Points" for wireless access that my guests could hook up to the Internet through, but not have access to my home networked computers. I would highly recommend this unit to anyone needing a new router and wireless port. It would have been convenient if this unit had more than 4-ports for Ethernet, but I picked up a high speed switch and was able to use that in an office area where I have three computers.

Perfect Router for all your needs
I had a Linksys WRT610N that was kicking various devices off the network every 15 minutes. I shopped around and found this one. This one is actually better than the one I replaced. Because of my sub-interface setup, I thought it would be a chore to get this set up, WRONG. I hooked up the cable that went from my 2WIRE to this router and BAM I had internet. Turned off the DHCP on this router and NO MORE PROBLEMS. If you play games online, stream video and so forth this is A MUST HAVE ROUTER!!!!!

Overall and Excellent Router
After struggling for several months with consistent interruptions with my wireless internet (we were trying to use a cheaper router to service 2 computers, an iPad, 2 phones and a Wii), I decided to upgrate to this router, which has multiple ports so that we can have many devices access the wireless without any service interruptions. The signal now reaches throughout my entire apartment instead of just my livingroom and we have had no problems with the router since it was installed. The installation was very easy. This router is highly recommended if you are looking for consistency with your signal and speed.

A little pricey, but a great performer!
I LOVE this router! It is getting a good daily workout and was a breeze to setup. My ten year old boy set it up while I watched. A piece of cake for him. It gets used hard all day and harder at night. Evenings see it running Two laptops wirelessly, and iPad and two iPhones wirelessly, a blackberry wirelessly, an XBox wired and a desktop wired--all without any difficultly. I am also running a network printer with it and plan to add an external network drive and a wired and wireless blueray. Simply put, this router ROCKS! Get one and get happy.

i bought it and had problems, so i was talking to netgear for 3 hours the they told me to go back to Best Buy for a new one since it was defected, which come to find out it was not true it was a dumb tech who didnt even follow his own on screen instructions.I went and took it back 2 Best Buy got my money back and since none else were in stock i went to Wa* Mar* and it was cheaper buy almost $20 more or less and agian talk to tech to unregister old one from BBuy and register new 1 so the lady helped me in 20 mins and explained the 2 different hertz and helped me name and password it And Now it Works and KICKS BUTT for my laptop,ps3,kindle etc....

Great for multiple users
This works great for gaming, iPod and laptop usage with no interference at all! I can use all three at once and you wouldn't even know it. The only draw back was a little difficulty setting up port forwarding for my alarm system. Definitely worth the price!

Definitely recommend Netgear Dual Band N Router
I chose this dual band router because not only do I use the router for my job, but also World of Warcraft gaming. We noticed an improvement in our gaming experience right away. For business, we have experienced much fewer connection interruptions, which are catastrophic in my particular work environment. (Any interruptions now are bc of the service provider, not Net Gear.) I am so glad I bought this router! I spent several hours installing this, because the cable modem had to be reset twice, I needed support from Net Gear and Time Warner. That part should have been simpler, but once the initial installation was complete, I have moved it to a different location many times without problems at all.

Does everything I need!!
I am a novice tech guy. I basically wanted wireless internet in the home and to play PS3 online without game drops. The product was easy to configure; don't buy the cheap router with Best Buy installation for 130. Just buy a nicer router and hook up your self; an idiot can do it; like me:) My wife and I serf internet at the same time; toshiba and asus laptops and I never have lost a PS3 game connection do to the server!! Great product; buy this.

Great Router
I do a lot of multimedia (video streaming, 1080p/720p) and gaming. This router was the best choice for utilizing gigabit ethernet ports, and getting powerful range and processing power. I am very happy with this router. The only bad thing I have to say is on my PS3 the uPnP says unavailable when I try to reconnect. I have to go into router settings and disable then enable it to get it to show up as available on the PS3. Not sure if it's just the refresh rate or what.

Not as Fast as I thought.
When I read the information on the box seeing it was for gaming I thought it would be alot faster. I took my gaming devices and tried them on wireless but ended up just hooking up the ethernet cables to the back. Overly priced for being primarily a gaming wireless router. It functions fine otherwise.

Great product
After reviewing way too many reviews and several brands I settled on the NetGear based on reviews and price. The installation was very simple and went smoothly. Just plugged it in and followed the simple directions and the rest was a breeze. Suggest you set it above your computer rather than on the floor. It provides a better signel. Have had it a month and there have been no glitches!~ Go for it!!

Router crashes, sporadically turns OFF/ON
Recently, I have purchased NETGEAR router WNDR37AV. The reason was to upgrade from G to N and get a faster router for the internet connection of 50+ download and 10+ upload speed, provided by comcast. Installed the router on the same day, hardwired to my PC and started watching an online movie. After a minute or two, router turned OFF by itself, all lights on the router were off, and then in a minute or two turned ON. Of course, Internet connection was lost. It happened about 7 times. I called netgear technical support and they told me to exchange the router for another one because the one I have is a defective one. So, on the following day, I made a return and got another one, same model. Unfortunately, the same problem appeared to happen again. This router turns OFF by itself for some reason. This is the first time, I have purchased a NETGEAR product but unfortunately will never purchase anything else from this company. I will go with LINKSYS. I've had LINKSYS router for about 4 years and not a single problem with it, very reliable!

Great Router for Multiple Devices
Easiest router setup so far. I have a busy house with multiple devices. Wireless: Droid X phone, PS3, Blu-Ray player, laptop, printer. Wired: 2 desktop PC's. All connected without a glitch. After everything was running I applied mac address control for added security. I can have all device running at the same time including running internet movie streaming Vudu HDX mode and this router not only stays connected to xfinity there are no slowdowns. My previous Belkin router would say uncle with only half of the devices running, requiring continuous resets.

Big watts!
Got this bad boy after 2 days of research and checking the best rated WiFi routers that are compatible with DD-WRT. This was the top rated router I could find with the fastest CPU and largest RAM(64 MB) I could get. At first I was skeptical of internal 2 dBi antenna but I could simply could not be more impressed. Flashed it immediately with DD-WRT I can see my signal over 1000 feet away over on the next block(through three walls on the second floor) and the 680 MHz Atheros AR7161 CPU is only at 4% @ 20 Mbps WAN to WiFi with full 63 character WPA2/AES encryption. It is as fast as my wired network anywhere in the house(as far as internet goes) but it does have a slightly higher latency but not by much ~ 10-20ms more under full load Vs. gigabit hardlines to the perimeter firewall. I currently have the radio set to 22 dBm(158 mW) and the signal is nearly maxed on my Dell Mini 10's site monitor tool anywhere in the house with no less than -45 dBm RSL. All in all this thing is a beast and you won't get much better than this unless you buy commercial grade gear whether you flash it with a third party firmware or leave it stock. Only time will tell though as far as reliability of the radio goes.

Excellent Router
I have been using this router for over a week now and it performs very well. I am using both the 2.4 and 5ghz bands and it is still pretty fast. The only issue I ran into is with Comcast. There is a MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) recommenred by comcast which you have to also set in the router. Mine is set to 1500 which seems to be the default setting. I hammered the router by downloading large files to my desktop and my laptop. The download via the laptop was being written to my NAS over the wire and I noticed that I kept losing my wirless signal. After calling NetGear, they informed me about the MTU setting. After running a few commands in windows, my best MTU setting is 1500 which I was already set to, so there is not much i can do other than watch how much data i am moving across the wire at the same time. No biggie for me. NetGear has been very helpful. I called them to help with setup of the router even though the instructions are pretty simple. I needed help with portforwarding and so forth. The USB connection for an external hard drive is perfect. I can see my files from any place that has an Internet connection. You can share files with friends and family. You can give them permissions to certain folders. I also use the guest network and it is perfect for when people with wireless devices such as cell phones, Ipads and other laptopns come to your house. The best part is that they don't see anything on your network.

Home theater? Video Games? Netflix Streaming?
This Router works incredible with my setup. We have multiple videogame consoles, TIVO, Apple TV and many PC's and all of them run flawlessly with it. It does a great job, and while the price might be more than some it does it and does it better than the less expensive ones. I highly recommend it.

Doesn't support Atheros adapters!!!!
This router doesn't support WPA/WPA2 if you have an Atheros adapter. I got this information from a Netgear tech who stated that the only way the Atheros adapters will work with the Netgear router is if you enable WEP security, which is totally insecure. This is completely unacceptable.

Happy I went back with Netgear
We attempted using Netgear our very first go around with wireless networking (back when a/b was the standard). All in all, it only left us with headache and no network. Ever since then we've use Linksys products. I was recruited to help setup my in-law's network to enable my brother in-law to game on his PS3 while his mom did her transcription work on her desktop. I did loads of research on the latest and greatest and figured I'd give the top of the line Buffalo N grade router a try since it utilized this all mighty DD-WRT that all the techies were ranting and raving about. After a solid 2 nights of tinkering I had no luck. On top of our wireless network at our house we also use powerline networking for a far away desktop. It's fairly sub-par performance but I figured I'd do anything to get this little guy off of my back about getting him on PSN. I purchased the top of the line netgear powerline setup and a netgear switch (I chose netgear instead of linksys at that moment because they didnt have any linksys products in stock and figured I'd go "cheap"). Another headache resulted with no result. I viewed a video review on Cnet on this Netgear router saying that it was a wonderful router for gaming. I said the hell with it, if it doesn't work I can take it back and little fella will just have to cry it out for awhile. Surprisingly, I had him downloading network updates wirelessly in a matter of a simply 30 minute setup. His mom still uses stone age XP with a barebones Gateway computer on a generic cable modem. The router has been running strong ever since to a ps3 that is roughly 50ft away through 3 solid walls.

Not worth the money
Works like any other router but not a strong enough signal, my other router worked all the way outside my home on the bottom shelf by the floor in my bedroom, I had to put this one on the top shelf just to get enough signal in the next room. The only thing I like about it is that you can plug in an external hard drive and share it with others on your network, plus adding separate accounts for friends to log on and not have access to anything other than the web. Can't say anything about the live streaming to the TV in the living room, (that is if the signal gets out there) because I haven't used it yet.

Great dual band router
I had a Linksys 610NL, that was ok until I bougth an Xbox N wireless module, and would loose connection in 5 min after restart. I researched a lot, and the Netgear 3700 series (wich the 37AV is based on) came as a great router so long you would buy the right revision, the Rev 02 being the latest that fixed all the troubles. The box I got 3 moth ago is the black version, and has no more Rev identifier, which I understand is equivalent with the Rev 02 fix, in case you wonder. Instalation was ok, somehow the CD won't auto install (Vista 32), also the menu to drive me through wireless setup did only the basic things (no ID setup option). So I uninstalled and restarted the PC with the router connected as should be, the PC had no issue to connect with it, and from there I went in the router web address and did all the setup I needed. Had one FW update to do, and so far, no restart was required. I have connected a wired PC, printer and VOIP phone, two laptops and a wireless PC, one wireless Xbox, and one wireless AV receiver. Had no signal issue even when all of them were turned on and connected. Also, I attached 1TB external HD, and I could access it through the AV receiver interface like a champ, which was a joke with the Linksys. So far, I only have one laptop that can see the 5GHz band, the Xbox can't see that one, so I am not sure how others are using it for gaming any different than a single band router, probably I will need to look for upgrades to let me experience the 5GHz on Xbox connection. Overall, I am happy with the Netgear 37AV series.

All around good router!
After I got it set-up, this router worked very well. It was not perfect performance but it was still very good. The dual band capability is a must for anyone that is an online gamer. Set-up was the only part that was a little complicated but if you have done it before it will not be that hard.

Excellent Home product.
I am a Microsoft and Cisco Certified Engineer working as ITS Network Analyst. Let me clarify some information that Netgear are not providing. Yes, the WNDR37AV is the same as WNDR3700 as explained by the Netgear support. The difference is that the unit (WNDR3700) sold on the box (WNDR37AV) AV series has been factory upgraded to the latest firmware which contains the added features, as Live Parental control, Simultaneous Dual Band, ReadySHARE USB Storage Accesses, DNLA complaint, etc. The N600 denotation establishes that the router is now capable to run up to 300Mbps at the 2.4MHz band. As the Router is a Simultaneous Dual Band, if you add the 300Mbps per band (2.4MHz and 5MHz) the results is 600. The latest update for the Firmware is Version 1.0.4.68. It will fix bugs found on previous release. New Features & Bug Fixes: o Smart Wizard CD version 2.2 adds MAC OSX support. o The record time interval of statistics data in traffic meter is changed to one second. o Fixed "Wi-Fi gets disabled when guest account or WDS is enabled only if the MAC address starts with non-zero." o Fixed "static routes not working." o Fixed "DNS SRV records are not being handled properly. o Fixed "A conflict DNS address is assigned by DHCP server (IP address is not conflict) from WAN side of WNDR3700 automatically, and it won't be found as an IP conflict." o Fixed "ReadyShare Internet access - Enable ReadyShare Internet access via ftp with default port 21, it still allows users to add port forward rule using port 21. Enable ReadyShare Internet access via http with default port 80, it still allows users to add port forward rule using port 80." o Fixed "WNDR3700 locks up when a USB hard drive is connected, if there are many pictures and video files." In order to acquire the HD video streaming (For 5GHz a/n network only) it must be activate by checking the corresponding box (Uncheck by default) at Wireless Settings through the router advance Setup Console, as well to increase to mode to 300 MHz for the 2.4 band and other features. This Router is much faster, easier to setup and must reliable than the Cisco Linksys - E3000 High-Performance Wireless-N Router and the Belkin - Play Max Dual-Band Wireless N Router.

Great media and home router
I agree there is no way this router should recieve less than 3 stars. First, the router is similar to the wndr3700 with a few differences. This router is designed to handle media streaming and therefore has a dedicated media engine inside for that purpose. It is dlna certified so all your media equipment may share its media. I have had mine now for 3 months and have not had a single issue. I have my computer, printer, hdtv and xbox running off of this router without a hitch. The hdtv and xbox are running off the wireless downstairs(about 50 feet away) and through 3 walls and im able to stream hd movies and play lag free gaming with no issues. Install was easy enough for a novice. I was up and running in less than 15 mins. It has tons of features so tweaking for each individual is easy and can be set up for there needs. I have been a linksys. fan for a number of years but i must say i have been converted to netgear now. The only reason I gave this router a 4 was because I think the price is a little steep and the 5ghz band is a little weak. Granted you get what u pay for and most dual band routers 5ghz band is undesierable currently. I wanted to write a review because im sure like most people before i go and spend close to 200 hundred dollars on something i want to know its worth it. You wont be disappointed..

Awesome piece of equipment
First of all I can't believe anyone would rate this a two star! This router is great I love the guest network feature. It is super easy to setup and connect to. It has so many options for users that want/need them yet is simple enough for the beginner. It is a bit pricey but quality is worth it. I love being able to stream movies and pictures from my external hard drive. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that when I first tried to use the guest network feature I hadn't updated the firmware yet so it seemingly cratered all wireless use until I did the update.
