  • Updated "old" XBOX to "new" XBOX

    What can I say? I'm a fat guy dancing around my office waving my hands smiling from ear to ear. I Bowl, I fight off dozens of balls racing at me, and my wife thinks I have lost it (until she tried it then her tune changed. She loved it). Then my college kids saw it and they loved it! It's fun as hell and when you mix it with the best online format period (XBOX live), you can't go wrong. If you are hesitant to get a new one because you have an old one, you can get a 20.00 transfer kit that will transfer ALL your data from the older unit to the newer unit. Great, great, fun for freaking everyone!

  • Kinect is a nice change of pace

    I'm typically a PC gamer and have been wanting to purchase a Kinect system for a while now. I have two children, seven and nine that I've wanted to provide a more "interactive" gaming experience for and the Kinect delivers. First off, it's controllerless... this is great for kids. We have a Wii and they have absolutely destroyed a couple of controllers and I have had to purchase replacements, so a controllerless system is a god-send. Kinect game selection is pretty slim currently. However, I have high hopes that this will change within the next year. I currently own Outdoor Adventures, Kinectimals, Kinect Sports and Fruit Ninja (highly addicting and awesome). There are a few demos available for download as well so that you can see how well the kinect games interact with the controllers prior to purchase.

  • Pros/cons

    Having owned a Wii in the past and due to the fact that a stranger took it away from me, when it came time to replace the gaming system I got the XBOX Kinect. Why? TV ads - no controllers. For the game Michael Jackson The Experience alone, I wish I had gotten the Wii; however, we do enjoy some of the games. There are pros/cons to anything and everything.

    Overall, this is a very good system. You get get graphics and entertainment with the functionality of the Kinect. Kinect games are loads of fun. Xbox Live is fun an easy to use. That being said, the Kinect has some functionality issues. The Xbox is noisy when running in comparison to a PS3, and the the Xbox and Kinect both get scary hot after only being on a short time. They have a shiny black surface that is a magnet for dust. It has too many very large vents that allow dust to get in the machine. My brother-in-law's Kinect unit died after only 6 months. Oh, did I mention it gets VERY hot? Overall, that tells me that Microsoft took shortcuts on the construction and build of the system. And can't compare to that of the PS3's design.

  • Great fun for Grandkids and me!

    Visited my grandkids in Texas and they had an XBox360 Connect and we had so much fun, I went out and bought one while I was there! Of course the games we played were all related to dance central and sports and what a delight!

  • Overall great experience when it doesn't freeze up

    The Kinect is truly an amazing experience. We love it. It is a bit pricy too. Watching streaming video is a completely different experience too now with voice control. Only thing that is really worriesome is that it freezes up quite frequently. I wonder if anyone else is experiencing this?

  • Xbox 250GB - Kinect Bundle is a GREAT Value!

    I had a no-hassle upgrade from my old Xbox 360 Elite 120GB to the new Xbox 250GB. I even used the old data transfer cable from the Elite HD upgrade. I knew that I was pushing the requirements for the Kinect (32" LCD in a cramped space) but was pleasantly surprised when with a little tuning the Kinect works perfectly! Child of Eden (I'm an old, 63 years, fan of REZ), could easily be the game of the year! If you have a Kinect, you MUST buy Child of Eden! I own both a Wii and PS3 with Move, and neither come close to Kinect performance and fun factor!

    I bought this for my wife so she could exercise with some of the fitness games. It works wonders. Much better than I anticipated. TIP: don't play any games where you'll be kicking anything while wearing Flip-Flops.

    I love it that the newer game systems really bring family and friends together. The Kinect, the newest of said systems, is a great tool for getting everyone off the couch and excited about playing with each other. After you've seen your mom jump, dance and sing in the living room, somehow discussing a household issue isn't so intimidating.

  • WOW! Xbox360 w/Kinect ..Let the fun begin.

    I am not a gamer, but I received this as a Fathers' Day gift and the entire family is enjoying it. With the various apps.,and games this machine is getting its workout;along with us. The games are incredible, the interaction to make you part of the game is a blast. Friends with Wii now want our system. And yes, I am slowly becoming a game player(Dark Knight Asylum-wickedly cool). But looking forward to some amazing games coming this winter(Disneyland,Star Wars) Plus being able to link and sync Windows Media Center from your computer to your tv..and other devices...it all helps tie in the entire entertainment center.

    I have been a long time Playstation fan, but with the recent hack into PSN , and then not having online for almost two months, I decided to try out xbox.     i traded in my ps3 for the 360 with kinect and this thing is so cool i thought that i would feel like an idiot jumping aroung and being a controller but it is so much fun and it is also a workout i feel like a magician i wave my hands and something happens i jump up and down and something happens ,the move is not even close to this and the move is also just to complicated iread all of these articles from these experts about which system is the best and i really do not pay attention because the experts do not pick the best console the consumer does and the consumers say the 360 is the best yes the ps3 is a great system but since the xbox has gone wireless and with the production of the kinect system it just can't be beat ,blue ray is just something that sony came up with to make even more money go and just buy a regular dvd because i do not see the difference a movie is only so long and a video game only takes up the same amount of space so what do you do with the rest of the space .

    Def spend the $100 more for the 250G. You will not be able to play any games without it. I LOVE the MJ experience game as well as kinect sports and dance central. These games are an actual work out as well as fun with friends/family. BUY IT!

    I purchased this console after the second original console died of the red ring of death. Waste of money! I have had it for roughly a month and a half and I already have to send it to get repaired, because it no longer reads the game disks. I was always a big Xbox supporter, but this is rediculous. Don't buy. Even with Sony losing all of my personal information, I'm going to stick with the PS3, since it will actually play games...

  • Good way to upgrade your hard drive and get Kinect

    My original Xbox red ringed again, and I was out of warranty. I decided to pick up this system to upgrade my hard drive and to get the Kinect system as an added bonus. This system preforms well and is much quieter than my original Xbox. I also like the new sleek, black look, and it takes up a little less room on my entertainment unit. A word of warning, unlike the original Xbox where you had to hold the power button to power down the console, this one you have to simply push the power button to power down the console. For houses with young and curious children, this can be problematic as one push of the button from your child can power down your console. This may be an important factor to consider in your Xbox placement.

    Great value-we got the bundle for $400. Gets you up and off the couch with a good selection of games to choose from. Ours came with the Adventures game which has a lot of fun and entertaining mini games-easy to play for hours. The video chat feature works great and love how the Kinect follows the subject. Great product and great value when you get them bundled together!

  • GREAT FAMILY FUN!!

    Family game night is every night now, my wife and I played with our 3 kids ages 10,8 and 5 for three days straight it is so addicting and realistic we also purchased some other games with it and the Kinect setup made me realize how out of shape I really am. LOL! Either way GREAT JOB microsoft for making a game system that is fun for all ages a perfect 10! I have and will recommend this game system to everyone it was worth every penny!!!

  • Excellent for having fun at Home

    I am very much satisfied with XBOX specially, you get another alternative to play and having fund and at the same time, you can burn our some calories. Easy to install, easy to play game specially kinect specific. Watch movies through netflix as much as you can. The only problem with XBOX is you need to a get a gold membership to get additional services. But, I think, that is available with very cheap price.

  • New Xbox Design Welcomed

    This is my first Xbox 360 but I know many people that have the older style and I'm very happy I held out until now. No issues of overheating. Built-in wi-fi is great. The power and eject buttons are much better as well. The Kinnect is pretty popular with the kids but I'm still holding out for worthwhile app. Buying it as a package saves you a few bucks vs. buying Kinnect by itself.

    We were a Wii family and the Xbox opened up a whole new world for us! We love it! It's so much more life-like and not having to hold a controller makes it all the better. We'v used it to watch dvd's - overall excellent product - just wish they had released more games for the Xbox Kinect.

    The kids love the new Xbox 250GB with Kinect... Well actually the whole family is into it and we didn't have to buy other devices to play sports games and such. Our daughter is dancing away on Dance Central and I'm blasting my way through Black Ops, our son is taking care of villains with his Lego Indiana Jones adventures. Thanks to the great help at Best Buy we got everything we wanted. We were not pressured into buying the 250GB version which was $100 more it was explained the 250 version the games run off the hard drive instead of the disk. It was an easy no pressure purchase and I recommend the salesman for his courtesy!

  • More fun than I expected

    I figured this was just going to be another device that will eventually end up in my peripheral graveyard, with the guitars, mics and other gadgets that eventually wear out their family welcome. So far, however, we're having a blast with the Kinect. The Microsoft folks have a really fun device. I'm not sure how it works, but I like it, and I'm sure you will do. Two thumbs way up for this one.

    The kinect is a BLAST! I couldn't be happier with my product. The internal wireless connection works just as well as my other xbox which was wired directly to my router. I live in an apartment and the kinect has no problems with distance, and my apartment isn't overly large. I highly recommend it!!

  • Exhausting!!!

    I think it's a wonderful debut of technology and a good value, the device is simple to setup and calibrate. The kinect really does track your body well but there is a slight lag in responding, but so far of the games I've played kinect sports and adventures the games have tells that allow you to anticipate and execute your moves to make up for the really slight lag. Graphics wise the kinect games look simple to me, like wii games on steroids, dont expect Gears of War. Now probably on to the one thing new kinect owners might no be expecting, the Kinect is exhausting. You will be running around hopping up and down, squating, jumping, throwing punches(kinect sports), you will break a sweat and you will be sore the next day. No pain, No gain. Enjoy. Also two player games can be dangerous with kicks and elbows flying.

  • Lots of fun, Kinect still needs work

    We have had our Xbox for about a month and really enjoy it so far. Graphics are amazing compared to the Wii. I have it connected to my surround sound system via HDMI, picture and sound are awesome. Having a lot of fun with the games. My only complaint is the Kinect. It is a great concept and works fairly well. The Kinect games are enjoyable, but the system is a little buggy. I'm sure it will be worked out with future updates. I don't know if I would buy the Kinect, but the Xbox is a great family buy!

    The system including the Kinect performs as expected...very well!! I am hopeful that as time goes on, more games will be released. Right now the selection is rather slim, (this is to be expected right now). I would hope that some of these new games would be more adult in nature, perhaps some role playing would be possible.

    I have already an Xbox Elite, but decided to just upgrade my console and get the Kinect. The Kinect play has just as the same concept that the Wii does (It's always better to play with family and/or friends). It also does have a more sleeker look than the older Xbox 360's.

    Already had the PS3 and added this to the gaming group. Everything is as promised. My only complaint would be the distance the Kinect bar has to be from the players. Don't have a lot of room and it doesnt read correct at times. However the game system itself is awesome!

  • Microsoft updated the xbox right!

    I've had two other XBOX's last one being the elite, although i only experienced the red ring of death on one, Microsoft promptly fixed it. Now i bought this new version because i wanted the kinect, and the new version. glad i did. awesome the integrated wireless, it's sooo much quieter when gaming or watching netflix, all though i like the netflix better on the PS3(yes i Have both)Kinect is alot of fun with friends or family. also the new hard drive size is cool 250 gb!!! although small when compared to my computer!! lol!! anyway glad i bought the updated version and sold my old one on ebay!! can't go wrong got some of my money back!!!

    My wife and I bought this XBOX 360 for the connection to NetFlix but have enjoyed the Kinect even more. Our kids and grandkids have spent hours enjoying the Kinect games and we have our 50+ year old friends over to play also.

    It's a great system for families. There's a wide variety of games to suit everyone's tastes. The Kinect was very easy to set up and the games are extremely fun. The only downer for us was trying to choose between the 4GB and the 250GB models. Not very many choices there and what can you really save on a 4GB hard drive?

  • Great if you can ignore the lock-ups!

    This is a great product except for the fact that it continuously locks up during game play. I have it in an open location for good air circulation. I even have a floor fan blowing on it just in case it over-heats. With or without the fan, it still freezes. . The old 60 gig is more reliable. I bought the 250 GB with the expectations of not having lock-up or freezing problems. Not impressed at all.

    I only use it for exercise and if I bought a glider or treadmill I don't think I would use it as much. I enjoy the graphics on each game I have and the interaction is amazing!!!

  • GB's pricing not fair

    XBOX sales geeks got together and devised a way to justify buying the extra 250 GB. The standard version only comes with 4 GB but I was told game updates will eat that up in a hurry, so you are all but forced to pay the extra bling...unless you want to add GB later which will probably cost more in the long run.

  • Great family games

    I purchased the Xbox 360 with Kinect for myself. The reason was to get me off the couch and get me moving with some of the dance games. I really enjoy dancing and this was a great find for me and fun to do. Then one day my grandkids were over and noticed I had the Xbox and they went crazy I became the coolest grandma around. We now have dance wars and I must say grandma is pretty good. My son didn't want to do any of the dances but we really drove him crazy so he got up to do ONE dance just so we would leave him alone. Once he started he couldn't stop and liked the Xbox so much he purchased one for himself the next day. We have now added other family games and have so much fun trading them back and forth. But most of all when we get together we all can join in on the fun not matter what the ages are. One of the best purchases I have made in a long time. Now I am off the couch and moving plus became a very cool grandma

    I recently upgraded from the Wii as I wanted to try something new. I bought the xbox 250 with kinect after xmas. I was impressed by the graphics of the games. The game play was fun and never lost its appeal. Got the free month of xbox live and it was great going online and playing games with people around the world. I was able to link the xbox with my computer and all the music I have downlaoded I was able to play through my xbox. Don't have a zune pass, but I was still able to do a lot with xbox live. I am not sorry that I bought this system and happy that i went with xbox 360 vs. play station.

    Just picked up this bundle. The console is very nice with the new look. It does everything it's intended to do. The kinect is great to get you off the sofa while gaming. I own the PS3 and Wii also but the Xbox is my favorite console. I prefer Live over psn. I mostly play Black Ops online. I really like the extra USB ports, touch sensitive buttons, piano black, etc...The kinect is nice for family fun.

    I owned the first Xbox for many years and finally took the plunge to upgrade to the 360. I decided to go all the way and get the latest and greatest with the Kinect included. I have not been disappointed. The graphics and audio are excellent and there is a vast library of games for the machine. The Kinect has performed flawlessly. Although I have only two games for it, I expect to see many more in the coming year. It is really quite amazing to stand in front of the TV and participate in a game without the hindrance of a controller device. The 250GB hard drive is also a big plus. I doubt that I will ever run out of storage space for this unit. This is a package that is well worth the money.

    Becoming part of the game physically is a major step forward. The addition of kinect melds the mind and body with the program. No more couch potatoes.   • Not worth the money

    I got a ps3 and i bought the xbox 360 and now im returning the xbox 360 because it is not worth what i payed for it. You can get the ps3 same price and get way more and alot better system. I dont like the feel of the controllers, i got the kinect and it does not work like you see on the videos it sucks and you got to pay for online which is free on the ps3 plus you have to buy there brand memory flash drive which is real high and the ps3 you can buy regular memory flash drives that you put in a computer which cost tons less. Ps3 has alot easer menu and the controllers are more confortable and the xbox you got to buy rechargeable batterys lol crazy this is 2011 wake up xbox, ps3 has rechargeable controllers and blu-ray there way ahead of the xbox 360. Never again buying xbox products waste of time and money.

    This is a great toy. Kids of all ages (from 7 to ###) are enjoying it. Howewver, it is disappointing to notice that often the movement of one's 'avatar' is preprogrammed. This is very evident in games like boxing and volleyballl, and table tennis.

  • Lots of fun & gets you up off of the couch!

    I've had an XBox 360 since they first came out. So I had a 1st Gen with a 60Gb harddrive. Yes, I had to deal with the RROD, and the unit was loud, too. It was on its last leg by this time (5 years of constant use, and it could no longer read DVDS - the laser needed to be recalibrated), so I decided to get the XBox 360S - more storage space (250Gb drive - very nice) and it is really quite. Plus, it came with the Kinect - and now I have a couple of games and a fitness program that gives me some extra exercise! I also got my daughter this same unit, since she lives in another state (going to college) - and now we can see each other whenever we want to talk to one another! I highly recommend this unit - great games for the Kinect and you still can play all of the XBox 360 games (along with a good portion of the Original XBox games)! Its definitely worth it!

  • Awesome Bundle

    What a great bundle. The S Model Xbox's are silent, look great and outperform a PS3. Add Kinect into the equation and this bundle can't be beat. I own a PS3 with PS Move and this bundle. If I had to own only one I would choose the Xbox with Kinect hands down. I've owned Xbox 360's since it came out and these S models are more quiet, better looking and more reliable than any other.

  • Microsoft finally got it right

    After going through 5 different older versions of the X Box and losing them to DVD failures and Red Rings of Death not too long after warranties ran out, I was still willing to take a chance on this latest version of the X Box as I prefer the available gaming for this unit over the PS and Wii. Lets just say I'm stoked. Easy setup, far better operation with the new sensing buttons on the faceplate, onboard wireless, and the newest addition, Kinect. Fired up Kinect at Christmas time and everyone, including my mom and grandmother (I'm 42, so that tells you how old they are) had a blast playing Adventures. Finally, the X Box appealed to EVERYONE in our family! Also, Best Buy was quick with delivery to the store and the customer service was top notch.

  • Great game graphics, Poor vid streaming, No BluRay

    Game graphics and kinect games are great & really fun to play. Unfortunately, you have to pay a subscription fee for Xbox Online to get Netflix to work. If your lucky and Netflix is actually working, the Xbox constantly stops video streaming to adjust bandwith. Of all my Netflix streamers, the xbox is by far the worst. It also does not play or support accessories for Blu-ray, hence, overpriced in my opinion.

    We bought this to get active and wow...so far it's great...haven't used the game much that came with it...got the kinect sports...bowling...table tennis...boxing to get rid of frustrations...but I warn you...after the setup which takes some time...it's like you are there...we have our own bowling alley now...boxing venue...beach volleyball...and there is much more to this machine...and we are looking into getting more games to keep moving...I don't think this will ever get old...graphics are great...getting in and out of certain parts are a little frustrating but we are still learning all the good stuff about it...

    This kinect thing is a blast! You will definately not be a couch potatoe with this thing. It's a very physical thing. I was surprised at the cardio level I am getting from this thing. If you need exercise this will get you going! Alsohas a built in wireless antenea so you don't have to buy one. HDMI output and optical audio output are handy as well. It doesn't come with an HDMI cable, only the basic RCA connections so do yourself a favor and get one when you buy the unit!

  • Great, IF it lasts

    First impressions of this system were both good and bad. Was a little surprised that there are no longer any high definition cables of any kind, just the original yellow visual, and red and white audio. Also the power supply cord seems to be a little cheaper as well and does not fit as snug as it should. However after turning the system on I was very impressed. The kinect works great if you have a space large enough to play it (6-10 feet from the TV) and this system is so much quieter than the old system. That remained my impression until I had the system for less than a week and it started sounding like an electric razor and vibrated enough to shake my TV. Obviously I was able to return it after that period in time but after looking into a "vibrating xbox" I quickly realized that my situation was not a freak occurance. Also with the replacement I got from best buy the covering of the case for the kinect game had cracked all along the side which brings me to question the care the systems are handled with and if something else may be jarred loose. I did not take the time to drive out and get a second replacement though I have my worries.

  • Great Gaming System and Game Changer with Kinect!

    The best upgrade since my first Xbox360. The Kinect adds a whole other dimension to the playing field. With the ZunePass you can say "Xbox" and play any song, previous, next all with the sound of your voice. Netflix works better than all my other boxes that come with Netflix.     My first console, it was a gift and I'm really enjoying it. It's best if hooked up to an HDTV using HDMI cables for great graphics. If you aren't interested in Kinect, save the money for games and get one w/o it. One odd thing was that if you use the HDMI connector it blocks the composite connectors that could be used for connecting a heads to instead of connecting the headset to the audio output on the TV.

  • The best game console so far!

    We owned Wii and just loved it since we got it and 2.5 yrs later we got playstation 3 and we were amazed with the graphics and the party game is a lot of fun! But when we got the kinect......oh my gosh!!! It's the best game console we ever got! You're basically the remote control so that means it won't cost you much to play the games (except some certain games like shooting you'll need remote of course. In pair in comparison when you play the PS3 boxing game if you want to play with 2 players you'll need 4 remote???? I'm the mom and I find myself playing kinect more than my kids does. :) I love the dance central I sweat good after dancing 3 songs...good workout!! My kids and I play at least 4x a week...that's how great kinect is! We had to sell our ps3 as I don't see us needing it anymore. :)

    We own 2 PS3's, a Wii, a XBox 360 Arcade, and now the NEW XBox slim 250GB. Nice to see the XBox 360 finally get a face lift along with the 250 GB HD and the built in WiFi. The Kids like the new system but it still falls short of the PS3. I think it's stupid that you must pay for XBox Live to play online. The PS3 is still by far the better deal in my opinion. The Kinect is pretty amazing, no more need for a hand held controller with Kinect capable games.

    I had an Xbox 360 before the unit crashed with the annoying RROD. I managed to fix the unit by myself with a do it yourself kit. But after 2 months of gaming, it crashed again. Decided to purchase the newer sleeker looking Xbox 360 which was supposed to be manufactured better than the previous unit.     I have two of these now along with a Wii and PS3 and I have to say not using or needing a controller is very pleasing. You will have a blast playing the games with your kids and friends. I would suggest buying the model with the 250GB hard drive because its cheaper to buy now then have to add it on later. You may also want to consider buying a Live Gold 1 year subscription so that you can video chat and watch Netflix movies. One last thing, I have this connected to my home network, don't use Media Center just use the video or music links to connect to your shared computers. I was able to listen my music and watch movies without the hassle of setting up Media Center. Just one more thing for you music lovers, try Last FM.

    Great pic, lots of great games to play. More than enough memory. My Husband used it standing on it's side until we opened the tray to take a game out & it got stuck. I had to spend some time trying to get it out as it was stuck way in the back. If this happened to someone w/bigger fingers, it would probably have to be taken apart to remove the disc. The disc got really scratched up & would not play so we had to find a used record/DVD etc store & pay them to fix the scratches. They are still visable but the game plays fine now. We now only use it laying flat. The unit also gets pretty warm/hot when in use.

    Set up was a breeze, although there was a little more to it than "plug-n-play". The Kinect game that came with the console, Motion Play Sports, only sees our heads and isn't of much use. The other games play well and recognize our 3 and 4 year old grandkids well, if they can stand still long enough. Getting tech support is an arduous process, but it works.

    I'm most impressed by the technology. It's a little pricey but I already see that getting the 250GB was the right way to go. I got one for my brother's family and another for my sister's family after having mine for a little while. I'm able to play games with my nieces halfway across the country, watch Netflix movies with them, and video chat. I really like the voice and Kinect options for controlling the console. I have both a Wii and a Playstation 3 and this Xbox with Kinect is definitely my favorite.

  • Xbox 360 w/ Kinect

    This is my second Xbox. I previously had a 60GB. The new Xbox is far quieter than my old Xbox. If you have this device as part of your home theatre setup, this makes a big difference as you won't get the normal hum associated with a Xbox. The single plug setup for the Kinect is very nice as well. If you have anything other than the new "Slim" Xbox you have to us a power adapter as well which just adds to the tremendous cord monster that we all usually have behind our TVs. If you are looking for a setup with Kinect, this is the best value for your money. If you don't need the Kinect, I would still pickup the new "Slim" Xbox if you are in need of an upgrade.

    this is a good system but it will take some getting use to so if you dont have the patience then you better stick to the wii...when they created the kinectics they should keep in mind that everybody dont have a house so if you dont have enough space where you gonna play the kinect then it will not work properly...but it does let you know when your not in range and in range so thats good...

    I have been always sceptical of motion detecting consoles (Wii) and when I saw the kinect I was thinking it is going to be waste of money and time. We purchased the bundle as BB was out of stock on the kinect unit themselves. the amount of fun we had with the sports game (Kinect Sports) is amazing. The tracking in the bowling game is great, even makes your arm hurt next day! Kinect adventures was ok, especially if you are younger or have kids, lots of movement. As the game market grows, there will be more fun to be had. Wish the cable from kinect was longer, so that it could be mounted on top of my tv. you need quite a bit of space in front of the TV to make it really work well. ideally something like 12~15 feet

  • Great fun and makes the kids move!

    I got this kinnect to get the kids to stand up and move. It really works well for that. It has many features that are nice. I don't care for virtual keypad. Too hard to operate. It also isn't the greatest for people who live on the second floor of an apartment building. Most of the games require jumping and stomping. The people downstairs arent happy at all! This tends to limit the games the kids want to play due to the fact that nobody wants to deal with the nieghbors.

  • Great Machine, Not Great Kinect (yet)

    Having owned an Xbox360 from it's release date, it was time to upgrade to the new Xbox360 S. I like the increased storage up to 250GB, the built in WiFI was a big plus as well. The Kinect attachment, however, is kinda fickle. Without going into all the details, just know you will need to be patient with some of the games such as Party in Motion (the worst one for user interface in our opinion). We like Kinect Adventures and Kinectimals quite well. Kinect Sports is next on our list to try. We are expecting the next batch of Kinect games to work out some of the interface kinks. Value = 5: Includes lots of stuff, 250GB storage, built in WiFi, Kinect Sensor and game, etc. Functionality = 4: Falls down in this category due to Kinect sensor issues. Performance = 5: Lots faster than my previous Xbox360. Graphics = 5: Upgraded internals produce better graphics and the Xbox360 S has a better resolution output than prior models. HDMI is key.

    I was lucky and had an original xbox 360 last me over 3 years. It finally red ringed and I decided it'd be better to just upgrade. I was right to do so. The new xbox is drastically quieter, quicker, and just plan more bad *suggestive word* than the original. the built in wifi and the 250 GB hard drive are awesome!! Kinect is a lot of fun and can induce some crazy sweaty memories (I'm talking dance central on hard) which are also freaking hilarious when people like me who don't even have 2 left feet try and dance....

    I've had the kinect system since it came out and im very pleased so far. The system has froze twice since ive owned it, and only had one incident of a game not responding properly.     I got this on a hunch that my young son (3 year old) would enjoy this. I was right he is able to navigate the menus very well. I figured this would be a way he could be physically active in these cold winter months indoors. It's also a hoot to have neighbors and friends over to play as well.     Truthfully, I have fought my husband on buying a gaming system for many years... I just didn't like the thought of kids sitting on the couch for hours on end... I couldn't have been more wrong! There is no sitting with this system! Even my 3 year - old can play. It is cold outside in MI and when the kids need to burn off some energy we can head down as a family and take turns laughing, jumping, dodging, swinging and having a great time! then the pictures are hilarious afterward. This is not at all what I thought it would be and now I am one of the biggest fans in the house!

  • Great for young and old!

    The little to no learning curve makes this tops among the motion gaming consoles, and the inability to "cheat" also gives this a big boost as well (with the Wii and the PS3 Motion, you can sit in your chair and mimic movements during a game). My younger kids, ages 5 and 6, were able to play Kinect games out of the box and love it.

  • Great Bundle

    We bought the 250gb Xbox due to it being bundled with Kinect and it is already WiFi ready. The 4gb Xbox does not come WiFi ready, you must buy the additional piece to receive the signal from your router. This costs about $100. So if you are interested in WiFi this is the bundle for you.

  • Very nice peripheral

    Thus far a good buy. Ive been gaming a long time and kinect's a great add on for the casual gamers. So far I've been enjoying playing kinect with the wife and kids. Do not get fighters uncaged for the kinect, its horrible! I don't know what games will be made for the core gamers but it is fun and you will work up a sweat on some games.

  • Excellent Console! Kinect ROCKS!

    I was one of those folks who held off buying an Xbox and the first incarnation of the Xbox 360, because with technology I've found that the third time is usually the charm. I'm glad I did! The "slim" console runs a lot cooler than its predecessors from what I've heard from my friends, and it looks freaking awesome! No Red Ring of Death here! Kinect works perfectly as long as you have the proper lighting in the room and keep your movements relatively sane. I'm really looking forward to more shooters and action games for the Kinect, as the launch selection is quite thin (as it is with many new launches, like the PS3 Move which I also own.) Microsoft definitely got it right this time! :-)

  • Tons of Fun

    Easy to set up and actually did the wireless network connection on its own. I was up and updating the system in about 5 minutes and the update was fast and easy. Just answer yes and sit and wait. This product is a lot more than I expected, the Kinect is miles past wonderful. We did video conferencing with our daughter and son-in-law Christmas morning both homes side by side on the TV with voice and video. Next best thing to really being there. Every thing about this system has been easy and fun and I am still learning new things about both the Xbox and the Kinect.

  • Like the console but not the Kinect camera

    Console is a nice upgrade for the XBOX 360 but I def do not care for the Kinect default staying on all the time so everyone can watch what is going on in the house. Even when it is manually turned off, its easy to access from the internet. I have great security concerns about this device especially the more and more I read up on it. Just be careful.

    This is awesome. The best part is that there is no remote or controller to use or hold onto while you are playing using the Kinect. You don't have to worry about throwing it into the TV. I hope they come out with more games to interact with.

  • Too much fun!!!

    So I debated on getting PS3 Move system or the Xbox with Kinect. I went with the Xbox. Each system has it's plus and minus. My ultimate reason was the controller-less capability of Kinect. My kids and son-in-law had a blast playing the Sports game. My daughter and I played the Adventures game which is pretty simple but loads of fun. This is a great system and since I don't have to buy extra special controllers like PS3 I am really happy. Oh yeah we also got Dance Central. If you like to dance this is a must. I just wish I didn't have to pay if I want to enjoy online features.

  • PlayStation 3 is the better choice

    My little brother has the X Box and all the "great" exclusive games. They're not that great. PlayStation has far better exclusives and PlayStation Network is free and XBox live is 50 bucks a year. I will never buy an XBox after seeing my brothers. He loves it, but I don't see why.

  • Outstanding in a Little Black Box!

    I purchased this as an upgrade to my elite 120GB console. First thing existing 360 fans will notice is the slimmer design, control upgrades (touch sensitive), and quiet operation. I cannot stress this enough, but compared to previous consoles this update has little to no noise and runs cool! Integrated wireless frees up the rear USB port and the unit now sports additional ports for future peripherals. The additional HD space is perfect for users of the windows media center - allows quick access to videos and files on the PC. I had my doubts about the Kinect, but it is simply amazing! Movement detection is incredibly sensitive and works very well. Setup took minutes - I have a wall mounted TV slanted towards the middle of the room, so built a small shelf above the TV for optimal placement. The walkthrough is easily understood and will help anyone with correct placement, lighting, and play area. Optimal play range is 6'-8' in a well lit room. The included "Kinect Adventures" is actally a decent game and does a great job of showing off the potential of the Kinect. Enough variety with the different game modes and offers a good deal of challenge and replay. All in all a very good deal for those new to the 360 or those looking for an upgrade.

    We have family and friends come up for Thanksgiving dinner. The little kids enjoy playing Kinect for kids. The adults enjoyed playing all of the adult games on Xbox and Kinect.   • Amazing system

    I expected the XBOX 360 with Kinect to be good, but this blows me away. The controls are responsive and tracking is amazing. Facial recognition? So cool...I would recommend this to ANYONE who wants to see what the future of casual/family gaming is (and we'll see if they can break into the real "gaming" arena with future updates and games). This is one cool set-up.

  • Family fun for everyone

    RockBand 2 was great and I enjoyed playing some of those other controller games but nothing compares to this. It is easy to setup and play, the skill levels vary and allow for little ones to join, and the variety of games is going to grow and I can hardly wait. oh . . . and no more issues of sending the controller across the room and landing in the fireplace and hitting pictures of the wall.

  • Bad Connection Originally Fixed

    I absolutely love my kinect. It has been a welcome addition to my home entertainment system. When I first purchased the connect I was not able to hook it up to my home entertainment system because the Kinect needed to be in the front of the room while my home entertainment system is hooked up to my projecter in the back of the room. The length was about 40 ft and the extension only went to 15 ft. This obviously was not enough, however, after looking around I found an Long Range USB extender that extends the USB up to 100 meters (much further than I or anyone else would need). I hooked up the externder, and ran the cable back to my Xbox and it worked perfectly. Regular USB extensions will not work for this problem due to signal degradation. IMO even the 15 ft cable from XBOX will cause you some issues. You can find this product at usbcables.com. If you can't find it call in and ask for the Long Range Extender for the Kinect. Also want to give a big thanks to the Best Buy rep who gave me the idea and contact info.

  • Great game system and great sensor

    well as you all know the system is great no issues so far i am meaning to focus the review on the kinect sensor. it is AMAZING!! very active and very fun gives you a great workout game it comes with can be quite boring after beating it would suggest buying more at purchase otherwise great it is kinda laggy about half a second off but what can you expect i mean its the best so far you no longer have to hold a controller thats good enough for me in basic BUY IT TODAY!!!

  • Fun For Entire Family

    My wife is opposed to video games. She was very against us getting a XBox 360. But a friend of ours has one with the Kinect and he invited us over to play. We played Kinect Sports all night and we all had a blast. It took all of about 5 minutes for my wife to see how much fun we were having before she was playing with us. My 5 year old son loves it, my 15 year old daughter loves it, and I love it too. With the wife's permission we are getting one for Christmas (shhhh don't tell the kids) The best thing for me was, no controller needed while playing Kinect., so you dont have to worry about throwing a controller through yor TV, or knocking out other players. You do need a lot of room to play so be warned The commercials are deceiving. You cannot be right up on top of the sensor you'll need to be at least 6 feet away but 8 is better. Trust me get this one with the 250GB memory, as opposed to the one with the 4 GB hard drive. The model with the 250 GB hard drive gives you well, a larger hard drive, also you get one controller (why Microsoft sells a console bundle pack without a controller I'll never understand) All in all this is a great gaming system that will give you a work out so get out of your seat and on your feet and play Kinect.

  • One word "WOW!!!"

    I never write reviews but the Kinect is something that finally lives up to all the hype that I had to create an account and write one I went out and brought the 250GB Kinect bundle pack first day it came out 11/4/10 but unfortunately xbox still hasn't fix the problem with the circular scratches on the disk when switched from horizontal to vertical or the other way around. Matter of fact you can't even touch this console at all while the disk is being played. But I did so to make room and that's when it happened Kinect Adventures Ruined. So I went back to Best Buy and they were more than helpful to fix my problem. So I didn't get to play until two days later 11/6/10 but it was definitely worth playing when I did. Kinect works EXACTLY as advertised so if you're impressed with what you seen on T.V., Internet, Game sites, etc. I can back this up with my word by saying. "YOU WILL NOT BE LET DOWN." For the skeptics (I was at first) don't be one for the kinect this is the real deal. Lastly for the people that weren't impressed by what they've seen or know nothing about it go to Best Buy and try it out once you've played it I bet there's an amazingly high chance that you WILL or WANT to buy it.

  • It's fun!! Family!!

    My sister has a wii, and it has been collecting dust. This kinect is awesome, since it does not require controller and older non-technological people can also have fun...like my mom. The adventures game may be a full game but after a while it gets boring, feels like a demo. Buy a full game like dance central which is super fun. This is way better than wii. Control responsive ness is great!! I did not think it would be this fun! Oh and this bundle is the best it does come with wireless controller unlike some think. This bundle saves you about 80 bucks compared to buying everything seperate

  • Planning to join GYM? Buy Kinect Instead.

    Man.....Oh Man....... It is an ULTIMATE experience. It is not an excitement that anyone would have with a new gadget. It is definitely much more beyond that excitement. It is such awesome gadget. Don't waste money joining a GYM. It would be total waste of money if you join GYM. Instead buy Kinect. The game supplied with the console (Adventures) was more than suffice to have each and every part of your body move. I can confidently say that within a month, you would loose many more pounds of weight. If you don't loose considerable amount of weight, hey, you can always return the console and get your money back within a month right? It is very interesting for the whole family. You won't get bored because you don't need to hold any kind of joysticks in your hand. Bare hands, total body movement and sweat out gallons and drink gallons of water, maintain healthy life, feel happy playing games. My personal experience is that it changed all ages people to kids. The kind of laugh they had when they saw their pictures in different positions was such a different feeling..... awesome, ultimate, excellent... Go for it....

  • Full entertainment package

    I own both the xbox 360 arcade and the Wii. Individually, they are great and my 6 and 8 year old kids played back and forth on both of them based on their mood. After 3 days of the new console I believe we're finally down to 1 console that does it all. Setup was a breeze except I had to remove my glasses for the Kinect to recognize me during initial calibration (I could play with them on afterwards). The kids love the kinect feature and have been jumping with us "older kids" to the point that my calfs are burning (I can't cheat by sitting down on the couch with a controller anymore). We still have full use of the xbox 360 controller games and stream music for free with last.fm. The updated netflix integration is where it needs to be where I can search, stream (and order) movies straight from the console. No more going to the PC to get a movie in the instant queue.

  • Kinect is Great - No controllers!!

    Xbx 360 Kinect is awesome. No controllers. I was actually surprised how well Kinect can recognize me and all of my movements. The response time is pretty good. The video quality is amazing.   • SO MUCH FUN

    I bought this for my husband but me and my sister have been playing for HRS. We are getting at great workout and love the games. The price is GREAT the games could have been on sale if you were buying this week or at least the first day but still not that bad. It takes pictures of you as ur playing and you can unlock neat features and make the animals sing and dance. Cant wait to play more if you have a XBOX 360 u really should get it!!!!!!

  • Not for everyone

    I played with the Kinect over the weekend at a Microsoft store and gave it a fair chance. Going into it I had minor doubts. In the end I was left with several negative thoughts towards the Kinect that I didn't have before. 1) If you already have a Wii, especially if you've already gotten tired of it, you may as well pass on the Kinect. The games I played were neat, but when I was done It already felt old. I was looking at the Kinect much like how I look at my Wii. There were several things that bothered me, which leads to 2) You need 6 - 8 square feet of playing space. Not a problem for me in my living room, I personally set it up as a full theater with plenty of floor space, but if you live in a small apartment, have a cluttered living room or plan on buying this for your kid to play in his/her bedroom who's TV is close to their bed, then buying it will be pointless because it wont work. Watch a lot of the reviews on YouTube and you'll notice how well spaced out everything is and how well lit they are. 3) There were also a few glitches here and there.
