Logitech 915-000074 Customer Reviews
Nice once setup
I purchased the Harmony 1100 to replace the 550 I've had for years. The downside to this was that i had to create another account in the Logitech software to manage the device. This is a bit of a pain as I've moved my 550 into the bedroom for use there and need to remember which login goes with which device. Not a major issue, but it would be nice if you could manage more than one device under a login. with the separate login I had to reenter all the devices this remote was to control. once setup the functionality of the device works wonderful. The battery life on the device i not too bad either. Fully charged it seems to last about a week before needing to be recharged. With the replaceable battery it will be easily replaced when the battery life gets bad. The resolution on the screen is somewhat lacking. it is fairly low resolution and the icons for functions are pixelated. a higher resolution screen would be nice. one of the nice things is as the remote is turning on devices you can control some of the functions of the device while the functions complete on the remote. This allows me to adjust audio if it's too high at the time.

Incompatible with Mac
Forget this item if you own a Mac. The two are not compatible. Logitech support took almost a week to respond to my inquiries. Would not recommend.

Takes Some Getting Used To
Now that I have gotten used to this remote, I do really like it, but it took me a while to get it setup and convenient to use. I would highly suggest the RF adapter as it takes a while to go through a full activity and you have to keep pointing the remote in that direction if you don't have the RF adapter.

Our 100th Harmony Integration!
To date, we have integrated and programmed 100 Harmony remote controls. Early on we had some minor issues, mainly with internet connectivity at the clients home...but now, we breeze through custom programming in a few hours! Thanks for making us look smart! Keep up the good work. --Ultra Technologies, Fort Lauderdale.

Logitech Harmony 1100
This is my second Logitech remote. I have used the Harmony One for a couple of years and like it very much. The Harmony 1100 set up flawlessly using the settings from the Harmony One. It takes a little getting used to the size and shape after being used to using the regular style remotes all our lives but now that I'm used to it, it is a very good product. As with both, you do need to keep the remote facing toward your devices until they are all on or off otherwise one or more might not turn on or off. I didn't give it five stars mainly because there is always room for improvement with any product.

Did not work with myTV
After 3wks of trouble shooting with Logitech Programers, I decided to return the remote. It did not work with the Insignia 42" plasma tv that I also bought at Best Buy. During the 3wks, I spent 1-2hrs on hold trying to contact the correct department to trouble shoot on 5 different occations. The lower level customer service told me that a Level 3 programer would be able to fix this without a problem by rewritting the code for the input toggle to go 2 ways instead of cycling just 1 way. "Something they do all the time" I was told. After 1 week of daily trouble shooting with the Level 3 programer, I decided I was putting in way too much work to a $350 remote.

Sucky suck suck
The idea of the Logitec is awesome, I had a different model which I LOVED but it crapped out on my in two years. I, like my wife, would rather not have to buy a $225 remote every two years. So we went for the top of the line Logitec remote to hopefully avert poor quality.... fail. We got the touch screen Logitec and it was awful. The button never responded when I hit it on the first try, my first remote had a button for "List" for my DirecTV to go to my recorded shows, the touch screen, I had to go through two menu's to find that "List" button every time, the buttons that were actual push buttons on the side of the touch screen remote were ineffective and some had no uses for them. Overall, this remote was a huge let down. We had it for under a week before I took it back. I think I'm off Logitec for a while. Good luck to you if you get this remote... I think you're gonna need it.

A tad high in price but well worth it.
We originally bought the Harmony 900 but it died after a month. We decided to upgrrade to the 1100 and we are really glad that we did. Setup was a no brainer. I just hooked it up to the laptop, loaded the disk and followed the on screen instructions. However in order for the setup to be painless, you have to know the make model of each component you want the remote to control so write them down before you start. You also need to know what components need to be on when you want to watch TV, play a Blue-ray disk, a receiver, a VHS tape, or play any other component that you may have. Components that aren't needed for that particular activity like watching TV are automatically turned off. It is also handy to have the original remote controls for each component because you'll need to aim them at the 1100 for the 1100 to suck out all of the information contained on your original remote. If you have all of that information and the original remotes handy, set-up will be a breeze. We've been using th 1100 for several months now and we absolutely love it--esspecially the shape. We can use it from the armchair or with two hands. The controls on the 1100 perfectly mimic the controls on the original remotes to where we have stored the original remotes in a drawer in another room. Yes, the price is high but it often goes on sale. Take advantage of the sale price and treat yourself to having to use only one remote versus six or seven. You'll be glad that you did. Even better, your wife will love you for making the change!

I have had this doorstop now for a couple years and frankly can't believe I dropped $400 on such a useless thing. The overall function is extremely low tech, the interface limiting and logitech support is marginal. Save yourself some money and look elsewhere as this is a complete waste of time.

I love this remote, but...
I've had a Harmony Logitech 1100 remote for the past 13 months, that I bought from Best Buy. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star rating, is because the touch screen quit working after 13 months. But, I use this remote quite a lot. The AVR and blu-ray player that it controls is behind the wall where the TV is mounted, which it also controls. I use the touch screen quite a bit, because I like to tweak my audio settings often and this requires a lot of button presses on the touch screen. I've also dropped it a few times which probably didn't help either, but I didn't drop it around the time it quit working. I'm going to go buy another one of these tomorrow, but I'm going to also shell out a few more bucks for the extended warranty this time.

happy wife, happy life!
PROS: Ever since I bought my home theater setup in November, I've been fiddling with 4 remotes; 1 for the TV, 1 for the FiOS box, 1 for the Blu-Ray & 1 for the A/V receiver. This made my wife so frustrated because she's not all that great with electronics to begin with so every time she wanted to watch, she'd be sitting there for like a minute trying to turn everything on or make me do it for her. If you have a complex entertainment system, this is a must have! I always wanted it but never thought it was worth it. Buy it though, you won't regret it. Now my wife is happy and I'm back to my happy life :) CONS: I wish they put a retina display similar to the one on the iPhone 4 that would really make it a luxury remote. The sensitivity on the on screen buttons are a little sketchy, sometimes you have to press the buttons a couple of times before it registers.

Great remote! Exactly what we were looking for!
My husband and I had been talking about getting an RF remote for a long time, not only to get rid of the 4 remotes we had, but also to be able to close the cabinet doors where our electronics are stored. We bought this on sale for $299 and even though it is still a lot of money for a remote, it is totally worth it! The setup was a breeze, took no more than 30 minutes. I added our BD player, TV, receiver and U-verse box and set up 2 activities (of course the more electronics you have and the more activities you want to create, the longer the setup process will be). We also bought the RF extender, which I setup together with the remote. Everything but the TV is controlled by the RF extender, with the cabinet doors closed! We've only had this remote for 3 days, but I love it! The only con is the little bit of delay between the time you press a button and the time the different electronics react. But that can probably be improved if we use the dual IR emitters that came with the RF extender. Still, being able to operate everything with a touch of a button and more importantly with the cabinet doors closed has been wonderful!

Exactly what I wanted!
I was looking for a good universal remote. My wife and I decided a long time ago we wanted a touchscreen remote. This is exactly what we were looking for. Yes it still requires physical buttons and it does have some drawbacks. But it does 100% exactly what I need it to do. Let me start with setup. I had the software up and running and my devices installed within an hour. I then moved onto creating activities and had those done in just under 20mins. It runs my entire setup with ease. My only complain is the total lack of Bluetooth support. How does logitech release a remote that does everything and not include Bluetooth? This is the reason that the PS3 and Wii cannot be controlled. Fortunately, the controllers for those two systems are also power control so you don't need another remote. You just configure the 1100 for say "Play Wii," it turns all the other devices to the proper input and then you just use the Wiimote to do the rest. Not a huge deal but a feature that should not have been left out. So, a remote that does everything. Activities can be set to any combination of components and inputs so the need for macros is a personal choice for some. The lack of Bluetooth is an annoyance, not a necessity and therefore, I won't knock it for that. It doesn't feel heavy, but it feels sturdy. Therefore I think the durability is fine. If you drop it on the floor, expect it to break. It is a piece of electronics. Yes, some can take a fall, some can't. If you dropped your LCD TV from a standing position onto the floor, would you expect it not to break? No, you would panic and if it worked, you would be relieved. This is essentially the same tech, just a smaller remote. Expect a fall to break it. Other than that, get it. It is worth the money. I love it, my wife loves it. My mom who could never seem to turn my TV on before can watch TV if she is over and I am not home. It truly is fantastic.

Just what I was looking for!
This sets up very easily and has allowed me to stow away 4 different remotes. All the functions for all of my units work great, although it takes a little searching to find some of them. Switching from TV to a game system or watching a DVD takes a push of only 2 buttons. Turning the entire system on or off - only 2 buttons. Upon turning the systems on or off, it always prompts you to verify that the units have responded correctly by pressing OK or asking for more help.. I find this extra step a little annoying and wish I could set a default to skip it, but it is only one more push of a button. The prompt is there so that if you happen to point the remote away from your units while it is trying to activate them and some don't turn on or off as expected, the help feature is great at getting you back where you're supposed to be very quickly. I like it enough that I'm going to get another for a different part of the house, but I think for the price that this one should have an option to do different rooms that have different components, for instance a system A option, a system B option, and so on. Still, it does exactly what it's supposed to do as far as consolidating remotes.

A touch of class to any home.
My wife and I decieded to buy a universal remote and decided on this, First, we picked this remote because of the looks, but after buying we realized that it would be a perfect remote for anyone. It controls every device in our home. When I use it with the Xbox 360, the A,B,X, and Y buttons on the Xbox controller show up on the 3.5 inch touch screen of the remote, simply phenominal! Lesser costing remotes would probably do the job also, but if your looking for that extravagent look and performance, then this remote will not disappoint!

Luxury remote of remotes!
I will admit I have been looking at this remote for almost 2 years before I finally decided on purchasing it. I previously had the 800 model from logitech. Upon getting the remote home, Iam glad that I finally made the choice to purchase it! Setup is just as easy as the any of the other logitech remotes available imo. I like the fact that the screen is easy to read, the buttons are large enough to see, and the overall appeal is awesome. You also have the ability to setup your favorite channels so that you can jump to them by just pressing the corresponding button. The battery life on this better than I expected I have had it off the charger for about 5 days now and I still have about 3/4 if not more left of battery life. I have been so happy with this that I purchased one for my parents and grandparents as well. The only downside that I have been able to fnd is that depending on your individual setup you may need the rf extender which I found to be the case for mine due to my tv stand. I would say if your looking for a sleek remote that will give you all that you want and more this would be a great way to go!

Mac Users are in for a lengthy setup process
I bought this universal remote to replace my Harmony 880 I've had for several years. I was very excited since it was currently on sale at Best Buy and I thought the color touch screen would be a nice upgrade to go with my new home theater system. The remote looks great and works fine, but getting it set up for the first time or making changes to your settings is a royal pain. I believe this is one of two Harmony remotes that use a different type of USB driver that doesn't work properly with Mac OX S 10.6.x. I had to work through 4 different levels of call center support to finally get things working. It required nearly 4 hours on the phone (nearly 2/3rds of the time waiting on hold) and a good bit of luck. The support rep will ask you to ensure 3 things are done with your remote 1) disable all firewall software 2) manually set up a connection to the USB device 3) Ensure your OS is in 32-bit mode The challenging part is getting the manual setting to work properly. It took me switching USB ports during the setup process to finally get things working properly. It wasn't a bad USB port either since the next time I tried to update my settings the port that previously worked no longer did. Anyhow, I wouldn't recommend Mac users purchasing this remote until Logitech releases a significant firmware upgrade. I've had good luck with Logitech remotes in the past and this experience was a bit of a disappointment. The remote works fine now, but the setup process had too many problems for me to feel good about purchasing their top of the line remote. One other thing to note, the size / shape of the remote is a bit awkward if you are laying down on the couch. It takes two hands to use effectively, which isn't as convenient as the other form factor in all of Logitech's other remotes. I think a iPhone / iPad touch form factor would be much better.

So far the unit is very useful and controls all components from considerable distances. The menu is fairly easy to navigate for technical minded individuals but may be a challenge for others.

Nice but delicate
I have had the 1100 for about a year and I accidentally dropped it on the carpet. The screen went blank! It is now useless. Logitech has NO service or parts for this item. If you have children please be aware that if the remote gets damaged in any way, you will have a $400 paper weight. Before I dropped it, it worked great and was easy to program online. Of course, I owned an 880 prior to this and was accustomed to using the online service. While I like the Logitech remotes, I can't really recommend them because of the non-support by Logitech.

Logitech Harmony 1100
This unit is exactly what I was lookiing for. I've tried other remotes only to be disappointed that it was missing that one button funtion that either my DVD changer, CD Changer, or Digital cable box had that the universal remote just didn't do. This one does it all. Not does it do it all if doesn't do it after setting it up you can go back and train it to do what it was missing by simply pointing the remotes at each other and pressing the learn menu. This remote is awesome. Every freind I bring oer the house all say the same thing. "I gotta get me one of those." Unitll I tell them the price. The only down side to this product. But now that I have it and have used it for over a month, I would have paid double what I paid for it. I love not having 7 remotes on my coffee table.

Awesome remote for everyone
I upgraded from an 880 and I am so happy with the 1100. I was a little gun shy due to other reviews because I have a Mac and it sounded like a hassle to set up on the Mac. It couldn't have been easier to do, all I had to do was assign it a network which was simple and explained on the Harmony web site. It's really cool using the favorites button because you can have 24 channels and I downloaded all the logos on line. I have DirecTv and I was able to put all of the buttons I use most often right where I wanted them. The initial set only took about 20-30 minutes but to set up all the channel logos and move the buttons around where I wanted them took about 2 1/2-3 hours but was well worth it. The price right now at Best Buy helped me pull the trigger and you should too. The 1100 is much easier to see the buttons on because of the large lit up screen and it controls everything just as fast if not faster then the 880. Jump now and get one, don't listen to the reviews that almost scared me away because it was very easy to set up. Go for it.

MAKE YOUR LIFE EASIER
After reading all the reviews I decided to dive straight in and purchase this remote on sale for $299, and I'm glad I did. I hooked up a Samsung 60" LED, Samsung Blu-ray, Yamaha reciever, Motorola DVR/cable box, PC, and XBox 360. Set-up: Set-up was pretty painless. Opened the box , read the quick start instructions, inserted the cd into the computer and hooked the remote to the computer. Took about 5 min to load from cd and transfer to remote. Did run into a problem when it tryed to reboot the remote. Had to unplug it and run it again (3 more min). The button set-up was very easy because I had all my reciepts with the model numbers on them for my devices. You must know how your devices are mapped on your system for this set-up to work correctly. Took another 5 min to set up the buttons. Tested it out and it worked flawlessly! Buttons: Yes, you have to use the factory buttons, would be nice to customize but no problem. Found the touch-screen very responsive. Like the clicking sound it makes to let you know you have touched it. Ease of use: Pretty easy and intuitive. Did take me a while to find the DVR list (i dont read the manuals). Easy to use with one hand. Good signal power, you don't have to point it exactly at devices. Pros: Very easy set-up. Very easy to use. One button operation (push watch tv button and turns on tv, cable box, reciever, and sets them all to the proper inputs). Put 6 remotes in the drawer and replaced them with one!!!! Cons: Froze up once on set-up. Black remote shows alot of fingerprints. No custom buttons. No custom macros.

I previously owned the harmony 1000 and after 4 years of usage - it was time to get a new remote. Unfortunately I was unable to get the H1100 to work - as the USB connection was faulty. When I bought the product which BB sells for $399 they sold it for $286 - the same price at B&H. The harmony generally works and I hear the H1100 fixes some of the issues with the H1000. I look forward to eventually getting it working. BB took it back very easily.

Great overall product
I do my research before I buy anything that has to do with electronics. I was not sure I wanted to buy this product to find out if all the bad reviews were right. But I read all the good reviews that it got and pulled the trigger. I saw a tutorial on youtube how to install it and it looked a little complicated. But when I did it, man it was very easy. As long as you know how your entertainment is installed, it is very easy. All the functions work perfectly. Battery life is great. Have not charged it in 4 days and it is still at 3/4 full. The best part about this remote is that you can control ALL your DVR fuctions and I mean all the functions. So if you were a little afraid to buy this product because of the negative reviews, go get it. You wont be disappointed.

Awesome remote for skilled enthusiats
This remote works very well if you have a solid background of technology, both with a computer and with your home theater setup. I personally install each and every component myself and know how they work with my individual setup (inputs, settings, cable routings, etc). Therefore, this remote works very well with my setup because I know each and every input with my setup and I also work with computers for a living. I installed this software on my MAC computer and everything worked perfectly on it (no driver issues, connection problems, or anything of the sort that I have been reading about on other reviews...I assume inexperience with MAC computers to be their problems as most reviews when working with software on a MAC tend to be from people without experience of the Operating System). I added all of my systems (LCD TV, 400 Disc Blu-Ray DVD Player, 7.1 Channel HDMI Network Receiver with 3 Zones, iPod Digital Music Server adapter for Receiver, Cable Box from Cable Provider, Audio/Video Switch for HDMI components, XBOX 360 with HD DVD external player, PS2, and PS3). I am still in the process of adding more components as time goes on. At the present time, I have all the activities setup accordingly to control my devices the way they should be. With a simple touch of a single 'Watch TV' activity button, I am successfully able to turn on my TV, Receiver, Cable Box, Audio/Video HDMI Switch, and select the correct inputs on all devices. I am able to do this on all of my activities (Watch DVD, Listen to the Radio, Play Video Games, etc). As far as I am concerned when it comes to product reviews, a large grain of salt needs to be taken when it comes to them due to inexperience and lack of knowledge with these setups (this was actually my first setup with a remote control of this caliber and also needing to install software on a computer to setup everything for it to work). As stated above, familiarity with computers and your home theater system are a must in order to get this product to work as intended as well as expected by the user. If one of these is lacking, I would HIGHLY recommend hiring a professional or someone with a clue on devices of this magnitude to set this up for you rather than doing it yourself; otherwise, you will read poor reviews on this great product from people lacking in one of the two areas listed above or, in some cases, both areas listed. Truthfully speaking, the 30 minute time expectation was realistic in my case. Within those 30 minutes, I was able to install the software, install the device on my MAC, get all of my components added to the remote by model numbers, and setup my activities accordingly.

While I hate the clutter of multiple remotes--especially when I grab the wrong one in my darkened theater-like viewing room--but there is something worse: the Logitech 1100 "universal remote." This device is the perfect way to complicate your life by turning one button, found on a regular remote, into a multitude of keystrokes. The instructions indicate this takes 30 minutes to set-up which is misleading unless you are a computer wizard. Put aside hours--and if you have a Mac--put aside a couple of days (with no guarantee of success). There is no excuse for not having meta-functions. One should be able to press one button to turn on the TV, select the proper input, turn on the proper sound system and activate the cable box. If this device has that ability--I could program it successfully. This device would have probably seemed brilliant in 1980 but it is nothing less than absolutely pathetic for 2010. I will try to return it today. Get an iPod Touch or an iPad and buy the hardware and software necessary to convert it into a universal remote and you will be probably have a device suitable for the 21st Century. Leave this on the shelf in the store so the Smithsonian Museum can find it more easily.

Not What Harmony Used To Be
This is my fourth Harmony remote and it's going back to Best Buy tomorrow. Unlike prior remotes from them, this one is not compatible with my Dish satellite DVR box. What the heck? Older Harmony 880 remote = compatible. Brand new, top-of-the-line remote = no bueno. Huh? And what's with requiring previous Harmony users to create an entirely new account for the 1100 remote? I've done a ton of tweaking to the presets of my 880 remote. And I really don't want to have to go through and try to manually figure out all that stuff again. Totally lame. Furthermore, this remote doesn't play nice nice with Mac OSX 10.6. Even after manually fixing the USB extension issue, it still hung up at numerous points of trying to learn the functions of my old DVR remote. After several hours of frustration, it's going back. Harmony, you used to be the king. Sadly, my faith is now shaken. I hope my 880 lives a good, long life. It's a far superior remote.

Harmony remotes are very user friendly- but this one is so much easier to program than any other Universal remote... I liked it so much I bought one for my mother who suffered from a major stroke about 5 yrs ago and has limited has trouble understanding complicated processes... All she has to do now is press 1 button for the TV, DVD, receiver, and Cable box... It will aslo dim the lights as part of the programing process... I could go on and on about this remote- but it is really that good...and the Best Buy team was extremely helpful in assisting my purchase.

Easy Set Up
This is a great remote control especially if you are looking for a clean installation of hidden cable boxes. With the RF extender, that is not included, I was able to hide all of my components in a closet and had just the TV exposed. Very "cribs"! One thing to remember is that there is a slight delay between when you press a button to when the command is actually executed. It is bearable though.

Packed with features, worth the price
After reading some reviews on the internet, I was a bit hesitant to purchase due to claims of poor battery life and difficult set up. I'm glad that I didn't listen and found out for myself. I installed the software on my computer and set up couldn't have been easier. It walks you right through every component and activity. It asks you very easy questions. You just need to know what equipment you have (brand, model number) and you need to know where it is plugged in (Video 1, Video 2, HDMI 1, HDMI 2 etc...). For activities, it will ask which components are used for each and which ones are used to perform certain functions (for example if you have a surround sound system and use that for adjusting volume instead of your tv speakers). Set up literally took less than a half hour for me and everything works perfectly with one remote and one touch on the screen. Battery life I also found to be acceptable. I watch alot of tv, play xbox, watch movies, etc... and my battery lasts about a week to a week and a half before needing a charge. Just put it in the cradle one night before going to sleep and when you wake up it will be ready to go again. I'm very pleased with my purchase and even considering purchasing Harmony remotes for my uncle and for my father.

Delivers as Advertised!
Very easy to set-up. However, you do have to confirm and reconfirm your setttings initially. This is no problem as you shouldn't spend more than 1 hour to set this puppy up. Works wonders. Saved me from using 5 other remotes in one room. I have my Panasonic 54V series, PS3, XBOX, DirecTV PVR and Denon 3808 receiver hooked-up to it in family room. I'm dissapointed, however, in that the PS3 component needs an additional adapter. It's not a deal breaker, just odd that such a popular device wouldn't be automatic on this unit. Overall, still a great buy!

Try it before you condemn it!
There were numerous complaints on this item, and if I would have to guess it probably stems from the fact that it is $399 for a remote. People expect it to be the best thing since sliced bread, and when it just turns on your devices and looks pretty being an expensive paper weight, it's understandable that some might be a little disappointed. I, on the other hand, have found this remote to be rather delightful. + First, I want to start by pointing out the fact that you MUST have internet access in order to program this thing! You have to go through an installation and then a registration. Also, it takes roughly a half an hour, to an hour to properly setup all of your devices (depending on how much you have to program in!). After you do in fact get the 1100 setup, it is awesome! + I love the ease of use, everything is right there in front of you on one little touch screen! You can program up to 15 devices (I only have 9 setup at the moment), which is more than enough for a standard home theatre system. I can even control my xbox with this little gem! + A few downfalls that I have discovered however are these... You cannot specifically name the device settings that you set up, they are just factory install named. This can be confusing if you have multiple TVs or consoles that you wish to control. Also, the radio signal is rather weak. If there is anything in the way of it, you can bet it won't respond! I suggest purchasing the RF extended with it! + Overall, this is a great product, no problems thus far (owned for almost a year). I would suggest going with the less extravagant harmony remotes however, unless you just absolutely love this one. BTW: (It does look really pretty sitting on your night shelf or home theatre stand!)

Slower than getting up doing it yourself
The Harmony 1100 looks good and is very easy to setup with Logitech's setup program. Everything I could find was compatible. But, the remote does not function correctly all the time. There is a lot of lag time with the touch screen, and since it is primarily controlled with the touch screen its response becomes a problem. Especially when you customize buttons such as favorite channels. Favorite channel buttons do not work more than they do, and with the additional lag of the touch screen correcting the problem becomes frustrating. I thought the problem could be my Direct TV receiver but I returned the 1100 for the 900 and the response of the 900 is immediate and favorite channel buttons work well. Also, the 1100 help function is primarily only for turning on and off the equipment and putting the tv and receiver to the correct input. Remote problems, such as the malfunctioning buttons cannot be helped. The RF comes with the 900 and even though I have my equipment exposed it is very useful so I don't have to point the remote at the receivers all of the time. The 1100 required a pretty direct line of site to work properly and did not have a lot of range with the IR. Get the 900.

Replaced Six Remotes - Easy to Program
I had a Logitech Harmony 700 that just could not control my home theater system (DirecTV, Samsung LED/LCD TV, Oppo Blu-Ray, Sony DVD-R, Bose Lifestyle V30, and Panasonic VCR.) Returned it and replaced it with this 1100. Bottom line: was able to get everything to be controlled by this remote. There are two disadvantages that I can see: price (the programmatic features of the 1100 could easily have been carried over to the 700) and inability to override power-on options. E.g., the DirecTV box invariably sets the "input" to "Tuner", but there is no such feature on my box even though I entered the model number as displayed inside the DirecTV authorization card slot area. Also, setting some of the delays requires numerous trips back/forth between PC and system. It would be nice to set some of the parameters (e.g., delay values) directly from the remote. Other than that, it works as advertised and the other remotes have their batteries removed...

Works great and is a big step up from the 890!
I bought this earlier in the week after my old 890 died. The 890 was always a bit flaky when I would switch programs. The 1100 is a huge step up in every fashion. It actually verifies each component after choosing a program (unlike the 890). I bought this with the attitude that if it didn't work a lot better than the 890, I am sending it back. I am not disappointed. It controls my older Citation preamp and other electronics perfectly and most importantly, it switches between devices flawlessly. Setup took about 30 minutes. I will give this a 5 on value too because several friends paid upwards of $1000-$2500 for high end remotes which are better, but not $600 better. If you have the IR extended system, you are golden. Highly recommended

Very nice remote
I use this with a blu-ray, TV, DVR/Sat and audio receiver. It works all of them with ease. I love that you can hit one button and turn on everything (with the correct settings) all at one time. It takes a few minutes to set-up, but if done correctly it saves so much hassle when you start using it. I only have one minor complaint.....there needs to be a way to have a cancel button on the DVR/Sat main screen. If you change you mind or just need to exit an option you have to scroll through a few screens for that button or go into the DVR menu to find the cancel option. Overall I am extremely pleased with this remote and will definitely have another one if the need arises.

This replaces my Harmony One remote which gave me great service. The 1100 features programing of all buttons, and you can add a number of additional ones to the screen. I had to wait until they updated their software to use Windows 7, it's a bit rough but works. Just don't forget to "update remote" after you have made your changes. With the price drop, all in all a good buy if you have the cash.

Really cool, but not worth the extra $
Let me begin by saying this is not as hard to program as reviewers and stores would have you think, and the one I will recommend has the same programming process. The software/site walk you through programming, so it's easy either way. I bought this yesterday, and I wanted it to blow my socks off; it didn't. I got it working on all components, but if you want to record from a dvd recorder whilst viewing, and the touch screen goes dark, it can potentially mess up your recording when you have to re-engage the screen. With virtually no buttons, it's a bit tough to navigate where you want to go once you begin watching something. Yes. It's cool. But I went back the same day, exchanged it for the Harmony One, and I am completely satisfied. Same functionality, but since there are buttons, it's far more useful and friendly. It's less expensive, but the only difference in fucntion is that there's a small touch screen and buttons; it's worth the price. I hope this helps!

You'll love the Harmony 1100
This is the easiest universal remote to program and use and most reliable of any that I've owned. Like a good beginning chef, I read the directions, then followed them. I love being able to customize the touch screen to have just the buttons I want to control the devices for a particular action. Logitech provides all the codes for all my hardware. My jukebox dates from 1990 and they even had the codes to control it. All I had to do was delete what I didn't want and add a few things I did.

Harmony 1100 Remote
I have had the remote for only a couple weeks. So far it has lived up to my expectations. The initial programming is very easy and straight forward. Every piece of equipment I own was in Logitech's database even an older receiver. Tweaking some of the other useful features like creating my own function buttons was a bit of trial and error, with not real concise instructions, but an hour at the computer with the remote connected via USB and mission accomplished. The screen is very bright and easy to read in any room lighting. The romote is a bit pricey but works great and looks great. I am very satisfied.

Love New Techno Gadget
I love the remote! It was so easy to setup with the user-friendly instructions. Only took minutes to get started. The only thing I wish is that Logictech figured out a way to partner with major networks like CBS, ABC, NBC, Fox, HBO, TNT, etc. to make standard network icons available. The setup software does provide a link to find them.

This product is not worth the price, especially considering it does not work with ALL componets, game systems, and audio systems, It is fairly easy to set up as long as you have the manufacturer and model numbers of your devices; however if you have any bluetooth devices (e.g. Wii game system) or UHF devices (e.g. Bose Audio Systems) it will not function with them. So if you are trying to rid yourself of all of your remotes, beware of the limitations.

I thought I wouldnt have any problems like the other people on the reviews but I do. I'm taking it back. The good thing is that I got a discount on it, so I didnt pay 350. I paid 200! Thats good! I have had many universal remotes but none that truely replace all the other remotes without giving up any functions. You can actually throw the original remotes away if you want. Price is a little high so I would think that they would include the Rf adapt. or at least sell for less than $100. Instructions are not that clear but if you have limited knowledge of how your home theater is hooked up it should not be a problem. Read that people were having problems with the rf adapt connecting i had it working with no trouble.

Great Universal Remote
Great remote! I have Denon 7.1 AVR, Marantz Cd-5003, Playstation 3 as well as A 50" Samsung Plasma. This remote works great. I love how if I want to swap from watching TV or a movie to listening to my CD's, it will shut off the TV and turn on the CD player and change the reciever to the 2 channel stereo setting I have for CD playback. If people are having setup issues, they may need to take their time and carefully go thru the set-up program on their computer. I did it right the first time and have not had any problems since.

This thing wasted my evening...
I own a Harmony 659, and the Harmony 880. I wanted to replace my 880 with this 1100 to add some cool factor to my system, and have a new toy to mess around with. Then my dreams of fun ended. I run an up-to-date iMac with OSX 10.6.2, and the software was worked flawlessly in the past with my 880. I plugged the 1100 in, and the OS recognizes this unit as an Ethernet network hub, instead of a direct USB device. My software at this point would not recognize the 1100, and I deleted the network capability of this connection (nothing in the quick user guide says this would happen... they say 'plug and play'). So, I went to Logitech's website in the discussion boards and I find out that all my 880s settings would not transfer over to the 1100 under the same account. What? Why? That's absurd! Alright, I'll try again... started new account, plugged the 1100 in, and it still was not recognized... After being on the phone with two techs for a solid hour, they linked me to a webpage on their site that said I had to get rid of a bunch of their files, and reinstall, and it should be fine. Did that three times to no avail. Finally, I Google searched my problem, and found a link (within Logitech's website) that is a workaround to see the 1100 through the network settings. Although the step-by-step instructions were easy to follow, how ridiculous is it that it's a USB device that has to be set up as a network device? No wonder people have been bringing these back... Once I was able to establish a connection with the 1100, I started a new account, added my Devices and Activities. The hard volume and muting buttons weren't working, and some of the other buttons were doing the wrong commands. I tried several times to teach the 1100 with my original remotes, and again to no avail. 6 hours into this, I realized I'd had enough. I'm not calling tech support again, the other Harmonys I've had have taken less than an hour to set up, and this thing is just NOT ready for prime time... at least for me. Congratulations to all of you that have had NO problems with this device, but alas, I will be taking mine back this morning. I'm afraid to even try the Harmony One as I may fall into the same problems...

DO NOT BUY THIS REMOTE - PLEASE READ
As mentioned above, this remote simply ceases to work. I've reprogrammed it probably five or six times over the past year of ownership; most recently, though, it just stopped working with the RF extender which is what I need most in my home system as most of my components are behind a cabinet door. I have read every "knowledge base" comment applicable to my system (including the elusive "how to 'pair' the remote with the RF extender"). I paid $400.00 for this thing and it DOES NOT WORK. Just today, I spent 25 minutes going through yet another fix sent to me via email by Logitech; it was replete with errors,. For instance they told me to hold down the on off button on the RF extender biut it does not have an "On-Off". Also, I was unable to get the remote to do anything let alone enter "Safe Mode" per the instructions telling me to remove the battery and plug the remote into my computer. However I did my best with what they told me to do and--guest what?--the RF feature STILL DID NOT WORK. CAVEAT EMPTOR: DO NOT BUY! Please listen to this review--I take most of them with a grain of salt and usually think it's cowardly to comment about a company in a unilateral forum when they can't defend themselves. But after chucking out $400.00 and getting results this poor and off the cuff support that got me absolutely nowhere, I don't feel quite as bad about it. PLEASE LISTEN. You will be sorry if you don't.

When I first went to purchase my Hamony 1100 remote I read several reviews about it. There is no support, hard to set-up, and a host of other things and some from very tech savy people. As usual I pulled the remote out of the box, loaded the software on my computer hooked it up and started to program. Without even reading the instructions I was able to program three seperate activities without much of a hassle. I am not a techie / geek type and I got this remote running nicely. I like it so much I have purchased the extender and that is my next project. (I didn't read the reviews for the extender, I didn't want to get freaked out.) This is a great remote. It's a little on the high side price wise but for my spouse who is remote contolled challenged it works like a dream.

I've had this remote for a few months now and haven't experienced a single problem that wasn't easily corrected by hitting the help button. I did my homework before buying this remote. I was either going to buy the 900 or the 1100. The harmony 900 hasn't been out for long and already it is off to a bad track record. The 1100 was one of the best products for Screen Innovations 2009. The Harmony one was awarded in 2008 and I was under the assumption that the 900 would be just as great but have the rf capability, but due to all the info I could dig up it wasn't living up to it's predecessor's reputation. Some reviews complain about the noise the remote makes when you touch a button...if they took the time to explore their remote they would find out that this can be turned off. To program this remote it took me roughly a half an hour with all my components and customizing the background. I have never had a low battery, but then again if I'm not watching tv or listening to music it is on the charger. I also purchased a 2 yr. proteciton plan from Best Buy just in case anything were to happen (that way I could get the 3rd generation lol). The main reason I got the protection plan was because I was afraid the touch sensors would wear out, but I like to be more safe than sorry and I think it cost me $60 for the plan and the remote was $100 off it's usual price ($500), which CNET had been asking logitech to drop the price since it's debut. My only regret is that I can not wall-mount the charger, so it sits on my BDI media tower. Overall I love the remote and the rest of my remotes are in a shoebox now in the garage.

Save your Money!
When the unit is programmed, it works great - as long as you are willing to pay for the extra RF accessories. However, since the unit mysteriously "deprograms" itself every 3 or 4 months, it needs to be reprogrammed on a regular basis. Unfortunately, the unit is not easy to program, and it costs $100 to have BB Geek Squad come out and program it for you. After one year, you have to pay another $100 to have someone program it for you again. I was not looking for a remote that would cost me an additional $100 per year. Don't waste your money!

Very Buggy and Not So Well Supported
I had this remote for a few months before it stopped functioning; Logitech replaced it with a refurbished unit and wouldn't support it after it stopped being programmable a few months later. Apparently refurbs are only covered for 90 days or so. After that they want you to pay for support. For the cost of this unit, it's far inferior to other Harmony remotes I've owned. It's def a luxury item and looks great with a flat screen TV in the room. The menus are more configurable, but the bottom line is that it's VERY unreliable. I have an 880 that's been working great for 3 years, but this unit is buggy, even in it's 2nd generation and locks up all the time. It rarely turns off all my components and often requires a walk thru "help" to get everything running correctly. Now I can't even re-program the unit because the software can't communicate with the remote over USB. To tell you how bad it is...Logitech didn't even want the original unit back to fix/refurb. They told me to toss it in the trash!? Wasting your money is one thing, but wasting my time is a far larger crime. Don't waste either of yours on this. Get a One or an 880/890 and you'll be far more pleased.

I wouldn't buy this remote for ANYTHING!
I have several Harmony remotes. I thought this one would be perfect because it's chargeable. What I've found is that it is always locking up. For all the money I spent on the thing, I would gladly trade down to the base level remote. They're much more reliable. The only way to fix it when it locks up is to take out the battery. Then it goes through a pretty lengthy reboot sequence. I hate that model! I'm a huge fan of Logitech remotes, but this one is a real dog. Please don't waste your money on it.

The initial setup for basic functions is pretty smooth and painless. When it comes to some of the more advanced functions you will have to dig to find all the how-to's. Once you do though you will be pleasantly surprised and how much easier things become. If you're looking for a remote that will not only operate all your equipment and looks great this is a really good option for the price. No it is not your normal $79 remote but neither is the way it functions.

A remote for the new-age
Ok so I purchased this remote when I picked up my Denon AVR-2808CI (also reviewed). Harmony once again has produced an amazing universal remote. This is my second harmony remote, my first being the 550 which is going to the bedroom setup. The remote is very sturdy, the buttons don't feel cheap and are solid to the push. The software like all Harmony remotes is extremely user friendly and I had setup within 15min of install. Now to explain my "instant" comment; my previous harmony had a slight (milliseconds) delay when you would hit guide and page through menus onscreen, or even use the volume. The new remote has no lag and is flawless (roommate noticed the difference instantly). The touchscreen is very responsive and I love being able to customize the background. You can even setup a slide-show on your remote. Cons: So far I would say the battery life isn't amazing but you get a recharging dock that shows off the remote... (so a nice side note). The only other thing is that I'm afraid of me or anyone else dropping this remote. Seems a bit delicate. For the price you won't find anything better. If you want a remote that anyone that comes over will be able to use and never ask questions then drop the money on this. Overall satisfied! Logitech ftw

Not worth it
Keep in mind that this a $500 remote, so it should be awesome, which it is not. It is a very good looking remote, no complaints there. The form factor is different, and does take a little while to get used to, my suggestion is to make sure you like the feel of it in the store. My biggest issue is that you cannot customize menu screens, for example I want to have a satellite radio screen with channel icons, just like you can do for TV channels, however you cannot do this, even though 2 Logitech support techs told me you can. They tried, but no dice. My guess is that a lot of people will buy this remote since it does look so good, but a lot of returns will follow.

Finally; one remote.
If you are looking for a universal remote - please look no further. The Harmony 1100 is the ultimate universal remote. Along with the remote I purchased the RF extender (highly recommended). I recommend the RF extender because I am too lazy to point and hold the remote at my electronics and wait for the IR signal to finish an activity (like turn on TV and set receiver to specific channel) With RF no line of sight is needed with the equipment. I even ordered the IR to Bluetooth convertor box so my Harmony can turn on and off my PS3 along with excellent Blue Ray controls (all of the actually, all 51 buttons from the PS3 blueray remote). I said that setup is not so great and its true. Its a pain to make changes to activities, each time you make a change on the PC you have to plug in and update the RF extender and remote. I am a software engineer by trade and I feel very comfortable tinkering with electronics, but I had to call support a few times during setup mainly because the setup program and instructions aren't very straight forward for RF setup. If you feel squeemish around electronics don't waste your time trying to setup; have the geek squad do it or call support right from the start.
