great if you want to hear a tea pot boiling
connected everything and turned the system on and both front and rear right speakers sound like a whistling kettle. i live in canada and this was purchased for me as a gift so i fear i'll be stuck with a dud unit.... waiting to see if i can get it repaired or replaced up here. would not recommend at this point.

AVOID IT AND BUY A SONY
Bought this thing and it wouldnt read the blu rays, menus took forever to load, barely played my cd's. Took it back and bought a Sony, paid 50 more bucks for the Sony and the sound, style and everything about the Sony blows this junk LG out of the water!!!

What more could you ask for?
So this item is listed at $399, but last week Best Buy had it listed for $279 online which was incorrect, and the store matched the online price so i got it at a bargain. I'm an audiophile/techie on a budget so I went with this unit as you could get 1,000 watts plus blu-ray in an LG brand. The setup was simple, and speaker calibration couldn't be easier. This blows my previous, non blu-ray, Sony system away. Definitely a really good system for the price, especially the price i got it for. A big plus is the built in ipod/iphone dock that flips down from the face.

Whistling noise and the terrible customer service
I bought one of their units with the whistling noise. Sent it in, paid them a service fee, $69, and waited. Called them and they said they know what the problem is, but don't know when they can fix it. NO ESTIMATE! They are rude and unhelpful. So I have no unit and no idea when it will be sent back to me.

You Can't Go Wrong!
I went to my local Best Buy store last week and looked at the LHB335. All they had were ones manufactured before June of 2010. I went back on Friday and they had two after June so I quickly purchased the item. If they didn't have one after June, I was willing to drive to the nearest Best Buy store (about an hour and a half away) to pick one up if they had it in stock. The audio and video this system produces is truly amazing! I live in an apartment building and I'm afraid to turn the volume up above 12 because I don't want my neighbors to hate me (lol). Even listening to FM radio stations is very clear. My tv is not fully calibrated yet (I purchased it a couple weeks ago) so I can't wait to see how good the picture on this blu-ray really is. Today, I was watching The A-Team..well, trying to at least. For some reason the blu-ray player kept skipping scenes of the movie. Not sure why that kept happening. I noticed a popping noise coming from the speakers today also. Something I can not figure out is how to make it remember the part of a movie that I was on if I turn off the system so when I turn it back on, it will pick up from where I left off and not start back at the beginning. I have this home theater hooked up to my LG 50PK750 so Simplink is a pretty cool feature BUT I still find myself using both remotes. The home theater remote doesn't have buttons that the tv remote has so I still need to use both. It takes the blu-ray player a little while to read blu-ray discs, it doesn't take as long for some discs as it does for others. The speaker wire is a little on the cheap and short side. I will be replacing them very soon. Other than that, I have no complaints at all and if you can find one manufactured after June of 2010 I don't think you will either. Enjoy your new home theater!

Speaker Issues
I bought this even after reading about the speaker issues becuase of the cost. I though that others just may have mis-wired their units or a bad batch had gone out but had been fixed with new units or a firmware update. Within about an hour I had the same whistling - hissing that everyone else has talked about on here in the center and right rear speakers. I changed my audio source from an optical cable to RCA cables and switch the speakers to others I had from an old DVD unit trying to trouble shoot but all with the same results, hissing and whistling. After LG's Tech support had me 'turn the unit off and back on' and 'check to make sure all the wires are pluged in correctly' and claimed that this was a new issue I returned it for a Sony unit that for the week or so has been working great!

Worst Purchase
Don't purchase this unit if you are planning on running your cable tv through the unit with HDMI. Certain cable channels produce a popping noise when the audio quality changes. I.e. Going from network programming to a commercial and vise-versa. The blue-ray player is also very sensitive and 75% of the DVDs I have viewed have skipped.

Not Good
Ive read about all the noise problems with this model and i just thought people were crazy then after a couple of days noticed a hissing sound out of the center speaker like everybody was saying happened to them. Called LG and they said theyve never ran into this problem. Tried telling me to unhooked the wire from the center speaker and hook it back up, what kind of people are working there?

Would b great if not for whistiling speakers
Speakers whistle like a tea pot even when muted, very dissapointing b/c rest of sys is great. Love the networking aspect. After i bought sys googled whistle prob and found many customers had the same complaint. Sad that sys is still sold after well documented fault.

Great Product
I read the reviews AFTER I ordered it. Was very hesitant after hearing about the tea kettle noise but I picked it up anyway(had a gift card). Set up was simple. Followed directions explicitly. Not one problem. No speaker noise. This sucker was worth every penny. Bought the extras. HDMI in and out, digital audio cord for surround sound TV (Love it), internet access. All perfect. I have bought LG products for years and have never had a problem.

Love it!
I really needed something loud for me to get into movies, so I went on-line to explore the options. I found this one on sale and decided to buy it. It was an easy set up and I love the sound quality and the extras like pandora and netflix. The only thing I should have done was check if it had built in wi-fi. I had to connect the internet directly to the blue-ray player. But that was my fault. There is another 1100 watt LG Blue ray player with built in wi-fi but of course it costs a little bit more. Anyway if you want something simple, this is it. I love it!!!

Some flaws, but overall -- good
I get the same tea-kettle whistling noise from front right speaker as others reported. If you are a purist, do not buy this system. The noise is noticeable, but not bothersome to me. Another "problem" is that it can't read some JPEG pictures from USB attached device, even though these pictures are perfectly readable on the PC. I have not been able to narrow down what in the JPEG format it does not like. The netflix app lacks a search feature -- annoying. I love the ability to connect to a USB device, to IPOD, to various audio sources. The system is small and quiet.

LG1100W Blu Ray Home Theatre System
I have had the system for almost a month now and I couldn't be more happy with how it has performed. The sound quality is awesome and just makes my viewing experience with movies, sporting events on television, and general music listening enhanced by so much more. I did have some issues in the set up in the first time turning it on, I couldn't get any sound to play through. However it was only a minor one as the problem was figured out quickly after turning the power off then on again and hasn't happened since.

Not bad for the price.
This surround sound system is actually quite good for the price that you pay. If you buy it, I would also suggest getting the Rocketfish adapter which will allow you to connect the rear speakers "wirelessly" to the actual sound system up at the TV. It's nice to not have the cords all over the place like you do with most surround sound systems. However, the speakers tend to make almost a "pop" kind of noise every so often. I'm still not sure if maybe my husband didn't hook the speakers up correctly or if it is something wrong with the speakers themselves. Other than that, we have had no problems with them at all and they work quite well for the price. The Blu-ray player is amazing and has great picture quality.

Overall Pleased
I'm overall please with the sound quality and features of the system, my only complaint is that there wasn't a system available with the 3D BluRay Player, instead I'm forced to purchase an additional BluRay player stand-alone to utilize my 3D TV. Otherwise, very easy to use and setup.

Good for the price
I am very happy with my purchase, I would prefer wireless speakers but it is worth the pain with cable management for the price. Even though the description says it is good for Iphone it was not really design for it, but still works. Only thing I don't like is when I try to use it with the Iphone Pandora App it doesn't work, since the iphone needs to be in the Ipod mode. Video and sound quality very good.

Great system for the money
Had some challenges getting it hooked up to the internet. If I'd known it would be this much trouble, I would have bought a system with WiFi. Have some problems navigating the system--not very user friendly. Remote control confusing. Sourround sound is awesome. Disc player sometimes doesn't remember where it was when you take out the disc and put it back in and seems to be hyper-sensitive to dust on the disc. Overall, for what I paid, it's a very good system. Wish I'd spent a bit more and bought the Sony since that is what my TV is.

BR player has issues
Yes, easy to set up. iPod dock is nice. Sound is adequate. However, the quality of the BR image is not as good as my PlayStation 3. The biggest problem I'm having, and this is why I'm taking it back for a full refund, is that the BR player will skip entire chapters on some of my BR discs, most notably Anchorman. Did all the updates, still does it. Been reading elsewhere that other people have had this issue as well, so it's not just mine. Looks like I'll have to stick with Sony since they're the only ones who get BR players right.

Well worth it.
I read a number of the reviews on this site before purchasing and given some of them I was a bit hesitant, but I'm glad I went with it. The cords were color coded and incredibly easy to connect. They were long enough to reach where I wanted with plenty of extra wire. My only complaint is that there is no component in (for my xbox) and that it did not come with an hdmi cable. However my satelite box hooked up easily and played without a hitch. The best part is the ipod dock it flips away when not in use and comfortably holds my iPod touch. Sound quality is phenominal with both my television and iPod at least in the small space of my bedroom. I have yet to try the bluray player but have high hopes for it. For the price and ease of use this item is top notch.

Best and cheap 5.1 blu ray home theater system!!!
To start off it was very easy to set up and use. it takes like 10 seconds to load, compatible with any ipod, and it upconverts dvds and plays blurays. Also its 1100w which is really loud for an average sized room it rattles my windows. I had a 1000w 5.1 samsung theater system paid $400 horrible overpriced system didn't even work right. Most people think the more expensive the system the better NOT TRUE!!! your jus buying a name! so then i return it and then got this system and its 5x louder. Also the subwoofer is really loud and great. it really gives you the theater like feeling. HANDS DOWN THE BEST 5.1 HOME THEATER SYSTEM AND IS CHEAP!!!!!! SO u want a theater system get this one!!!!

Can't get past hissing
The first week or so with this thing I was really happy. Then I started having problems where the sound would suddenly stop working on the input I was using. I would have to switch input and then switch back in order to get the sound to come back on. Very annoying. Then the center channel speaker started a very faint hissing(teapot) sound I think the rear right speaker was doing it as well. The noise wasn't noticeable until there was a quiet second in whatever I was watching then as soon as I noticed it was very annoying. I ended up taking it back and paying a little bit more for the comparable Samsung HTC5500 and I am very happy with that.

Excellent
The price of these items has come down tremendously over the years. Now, for about $360 you can buy this excellent sounding, well balanced home theater system with Blu Ray Disc. For whatever reason, the NetFlix aspect doesn't work on the player - but I have a NetFlix option on my TV so it was a minor issue for me. I am told it is a software issue and LG is working on a "patch" that can be downloaded in the future. I bought this device as part of a package deal with an LG 47 inch LED LCD TV and they work great together. Beware that you need to hook this device up to the internet to take advantage of all the options - to do this you need an Ethernet cable to reach the back of the unit OR for about $150, you can buy a device that plugs into the electric outlet behind your computer (mine is in my home office) and a device that plugs into the outlet behind the TV (mine is in the living room) and then the internet is run through your home electric wiring. - Just ask the guys at Bust Buy the best way to hook this device up to the internet at your home when you buy it.

Nice Product
I really like this Home Theater System. Comes with all the features that you could want out of a Home Theater System like most of them now do. I personally like that it has the Blu-ray and iPod/iPhone dock directly connected to the receiver. Everything with this unit is plug and play.

It's OK but not a plug 'n play...
I thought buying an LG to go with my LG TV would solve any of the major problems dealing with set up and ease of use. What they never seem to tell you is that you will NEED more cords than what is in the box for it to really work well. I read everything but no where did it say this will not play the sound through the speaker system if you don't get .>>>>>these other cords! Oh the blu-ray and such plays fine but the reason I choose LG was the fact that my LG TV did not have a great internal sound. I still have not gotten the system to play the TV/Satellite program sounds! So I guess I am still missing some cord or some controlling something! I bought a HDMI cord, a good one, but still it will not play a TV shows sound!!!! THIS HAS BEEN VERY FRUSTRATING. I really thought about boxing it up and taking it back but have now missed that by messing around with it to long.

Packed with features!
I like all the feature that this bad boy has: iPod/iPhone dock, Internet streaming (photos, videos, YouTube, weather, etc), Blu-Ray, AM/FM radio, etc. I'm glad that it has digital optical ports. However, I'm bummed that it didn't come with an HDMI cable, nor does it allow access to Flickr photos on the internet.

Great product overall
I replaced my Samsung DVD home theater system with this one, and overall I am happy with it. The picture quality is great, and the online features are nice too. Comparing it to the current Samsung Blu-Ray options, the online features are better with the LG, in my opinion. The sound is great, and there are some different sound options that you can set easily with a button on the remote; my favorite being the "Night" option, which even things out at lower volumes so loud noises aren't too loud, and quite sounds aren't too quiet. The HDMI input works great with my Xbox 360. The only problem I have with it was mentioned in a few other reviews - the high pitched squeal. It isn't noticeable during normal use because the sound drowns it out, but its still there. Still, its a great product for the money, unless the squeal drives you nuts.

Sounds Great
It is too bad that you have to upgrade a new unit to accept new Blue-Ray movies. Also, if you do not have the correct equipment (computer wise), or the knowledge, you will need ot spend more to have it upgraded. This should be a part of the purchase price

Broke within 1 week
I bought this surround system with the LG 47 LED tv package and it broke within one week. The surround system turns on and infinitely scrolls the message "Please Wait." I have talked to LG twice over the phone and their customer support really stinks. It is very difficult to understand their staff due to accents and how fast they speak. It apparently takes them over a week just to prepare a shipping label that is to be sent over email. I had the LG Scarlett tv before and was all about promoting LG because that TV was really nice. After this, I will be very hesitant to buy another LG product knowing that their customer service stinks and apparently so do their products.

Great features, not so great sound
The Good: Easy to setup with color coding. Built in Pandora Internet Radio Support (as well as Netflix and other services that come standard on other products) Acceptable sound quality at higher volume levels. The Not So Good: I live in a townhouse community with thin walls, so I tend to keep my sound lower than the average user, but this applies for quiet sections of movies as well. When the volume is low, a very noticeable and annoying high pitch noise emits from the speakers.

Evil Hiss
Fir the most part I like this unit. Great to have everything in one small package. However if you plan to just turn it on and watch a movie you are going to hear a hissing sound for the first 15-20 mins. It sounds like there is a tea kettle boiling in the next room. It does eventually go away though. So I suggest turning on your unit and letting it warm up. Go make your popcorn, watch a little news...then enjoy your movie. Another issue is that everytime you hit the home button it links with the TV and changes to TV input. This is only an issue though if you have an LG TV as well. Overall for the price and the small package it's worth it, just gotta get past that EVIL HISS!

Great all-around home theater system!
This is a simple unit to hook up with standard cables (HDMI, optical, etc. not included of course) and color coded speakers. Streaming Netflix, You Tube, and weather are great. The system has excellent sound quality and power that I can barely turn it to half volume because it is so loud. The only complaint I have is everything must be accessed from the home screen - there are no shortcuts to any of the units functions. For example, you complete watching a disc and you must manuever back to the home menu to stream from Netflix or change a setting. Otherwise, this unit has it all at a great price.

Good Entry Level System
This is a good little entry level system. I wanted a blu-ray player so with the limited space I have, I replaced an older Yamaha sound system I had. The old system was huge, but the sound on this LG could not compare to the Yamaha. So, instead of using the LG speakers that came with this system, I am using the old Yamaha speakers, and the sound is much better. I'm probably voiding my warranty, but what the heck. The speakers that came with this LG system are very cheap and just sound so-so. I am also using monster cables and since the speaker jacks on the LG speakers are on the bottom of the speaker (bad design), I couldn't use them anyway. Why a company would put out a 1100 watt system and put cheap 50 watt speakers with it is kinda amusing to me.

Works great
I bought this system to go with my 47 in LG LCD TV and they work great together especially with the Simple Link (which I didn't have to do anything to set up the remote from the home theater system automatically recognized my LG TV). The sound on it is pretty powerful, the highest I have turned it up is about halfway. I like that is has several options for different sound channels e.g. for movies, gaming etc. Although on the "natural" setting I can faintly hear the hissing noise other people were talking about from the rear speakers, but I also noticed that when it was on this setting the rear speakers did not give off sound either. I am thinking that maybe its just this setting, which I don't care for anyways because I like lots of boom and base in my sound. I wish that this system had built in wifi and rear wireless speakers. Although it was not much of a hassle to hook it up to the wireless bridge that I had already purchased for my Direct TV box and I will have to buy a wireless speaker kit at a later date. On the LG website it says that a new model the LHB975 has built in wifi and wireless rear speaks and subwoofer but it is not available in stores yet and I really did not wait any longer to get a home theater system. When the newer system comes out I will probably put it in my living room and move this one to my bed room. Overall I think this is a great system to buy.

NOT ACTUALLY WIRELESS WITHOUT BUYING MORE ADAPTERS
The picture and sound quality is great. I love being able to connect to the internet and stream from my netflix account. The advertisement leads you to believe all yuo have to do is go home and plug it in. You need two different wireless adapters. One is for the internet and the other is for the "wireless speakers".

Run, Don't walk away from this.....
I did a lot of searching and research before going to my local Best Buy and purchasing this unit. I took it home, set it up and enjoyed it for about a day. Then I started to notice the "tea pot" hissing noise coming from the right side speakers. I did some research and found others with this problem, one of the reviews on this site as well. I contacted LG and they stated that the unit was working as designed. I took it back to Best Buy and returned it. They had 2 other returns on the shelf. It turns out that the hissing noise is probably a design flaw. It happens when the cooling fan turns on inside the unit, the fans electronic "noise" transfers to the speakers. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!

Easy to set up. blu rays look great, full dolby HD for blu ray sound encoding Its loud, Im in a small room and usually keep the sound at 12 for movies, 10 for xbox 360. It goes up to level 40 max. Only thing I dont like about it is the volume displays on the screen for a couple seconds when you adjust it. That needs to go! Very irritating to me. Their may be a firmware or adjustment for that, but I haven't found it. I guess it doesn't irritate me enough to look further yet, I just keep playing blu rays and xbox360 I wish lg made a 36" lcd tv to match it.

Good entry-level system for a newbie
Did a ton of research on HTIB's before deciding on this one. I'm a surround sound newbie and this is the perfect system for me until I upgrade to something bigger (at that point I'll be building one piece by piece). I'm really impressed with the sound after a year of listening to audio through my tv's speakers. It's also nice to have a dedicated bluray/dvd player instead of relying on my PS3. I played a few movies and games through it and I love it. My only complaints are the menu system is a bit on the slow side (nothing too obnoxious) and the front face plate is a dust magnet

good quality
The setup was very easy for my first system. The kids enjoy playing they're playstation 3 with surround sound and HD. We've watched blueray and I use the Ipod on it all the time and I love that. The one thing I was looking forward to was the ability to use all the features it says it has that requires internet. The unfortunate thing is that you pay the higher price for this model, and can't set it up wireless. There's no way I'll ever be able to hook it up when my modem is upstairs. It's not that important to me. It's ok, we just use those same features through our ps3.

Great menu, bad picture quality, ok sound
i bought this as an upgrade from my old bd player, 1.0 profile. I thought it was going to be amazing. Well it did disappoint me. The front speakers were always having a low humming noise coming out of them, kind of like when a teapot is steaming. Second of the video quality sucked over my old 2007 blu ray player. My 3 year old blu ray player had better picture than this, i tried different blu rays and i also upgraded my hdmi cable to a monster 800 series with no change in the picture. took it back the next day for a sony e770w. WAY better, pristine picture quality and sound!

Broken Amp?
Straight out of the box setup was fairly simple without a lot of hastle. I really wanted to get into the Netflix and Pandora, things I use regularly, but was misinformed about the lack of wireless capability. First, I noticed a high-pitched tea kettle like hum from the front right channel, which persisted even after checking and exchanging speakers and wires. Secondly, a new blu-ray failed to load until after until redepositing it into the tray a couple times. The menus were ok, but redundant and not customizable. My contact with LG customer service about the issues were not inspiring by any means. I felt like they were putting me off and had better customers somewhere to attend to. Overall a 2; I'm not sure how real the other reviews on this are but if you looking for good quality at a low price it's not in this unit. Too bad because the first generation model was rated very high.

I had last years model LHB953 which I loved. I upgraded to this model because of all of the features: Netflix (Newest Version - Add movies without a PC), Cinema Now, Pandora, Accu Wheather, Vudu, Picasa Web Albums and more!!!! This is a great system period. The blu-ray loads extremely fast and the sound is even better than last year. LG keeps getting better year after year. I just feel bad for the competition.
