  • Super thin with great picture

got burned by samsung and was hesitant to buy another LCD but I liked the info I was reading about the new LED LCD's and decided that they were just too good all the way around to ignore. the substantially decreased power consumption, the tact that they run much much cooler than any other type of TV. and the Picture was amoung the best . worth ever cent. one caviate you gotta get a sterio that this thing can plug in to because the speakers are not very loud. decent for a small room but if you want a decent theater experience your going to have to get a sterio hooked up to it or a surround sound home theater system.. But most thin design TV's are the same when it comes to the stock speakers.

  • Nice Television

It's been several weeks since I purchased this TV. In fact this is the 2nd TV. The first one was defective and I returned it to Best Buy. (Best Buy was really good about the exchange). The replacement has been a pleasant surprise. I previously owned a Vizio 42" LCD TV and was satisfied with its performance. However, I had no idea how much nicer the picture quality was with the LG. It's met or exceeded my expectations.

  • Great tv for great price

I've had this TV for a week now and I love it. It looks really good and I like the magic remote and the internet browser. I like to watch YouTube videos with the YouTube app and go on Facebook with the Facebook app. Those are the only apps I've used so far. I got this TV when it was on sale for $999.99 so I saved $300. I would recommend this TV to everyone.

  • Beautiful picture, plus two remotes!

This TV has a beautiful picture. The matte finish screen prevents reflection from the nearby French doors in our room. It was nice to discover that it came with two remote controls.

  • TV has an excellent picture!

The TV has been everything that I wanted and more. Outstanding picture, good sound from internal speakers ... plenty of volume from them for most rooms, and online features that are fun to play with.

  • Totally meets our expectations

We researched the purchase of a television extensively prior to making our purchase. The 47 inch LED LG met our requirements. This is our first flat screen LCD/LED television and we are very satisfied with the picture under all lighting conditions (day time, night time, etc.). Setup was extremely easy. We opted not to purchase the setup service. We use our television for viewing via cable, DVD, VCR or streaming video from Netflix. So we can't comment how the TV operates other types of accessories such as gaming equipment.

  • overall awesome tv!!!

This tv is exceptionally great for the price! The picture quality is fantastic and the screen is so huge that I feel almost as though I'm in a theater. Before this tv, I had heard that lcd sound quality isn't that great since the speakers are in the back, but the sound quality on this model is awesome! This is my first hd tv and I could not be happier with the results. Sports and video games show amazingly, there isn't any lag time or blur. I haven't used the internet feature on the tv, but I don't need it. The additional media box is the coolest thing I've ever seen! I can plug in my xbox and dvd player across the room so I don't have all those pesky wires behind the tv, I love it. Overall, this tv is perfect. You can't beat the price with the screen size, picture quality, and sound!

  • Great purchase, great product!

great TV. Easy to connect. Wireless adapter is easy to install and set up, and Netflix streaming is easy and looks great on the screen! Interface is user friendly and easy to navigate and customize.

  • Great picture, features, applications

Great picture quality, features, remote controllers, and applications. Sound is average, as the thin TV sacrifices sound for thin package. I would DEFINATELTY buy again - Great TV.

  • Easy to connect, great features, nice screen

Love the ease of connection. With a flash drive that comes with TV I am automatically connected to Netflix. The point and click remote is great! Very easy to switch between blu-ray, DVD, cable, internet. Great screen quality.

  • Audio Out options are main downside

I wanted passive 3d and LG and Vizio are the only 2 options currently. The only real downside of this TV is the Audio out options. LG really should add a "variable" left/right RCA audio out capability to their high end TV's. Almost all other brands have this (including Vizio). After much trial, I have found that the best way to hook this TV up to an external speaker system is to use the HDMI ARC port, which requires an external speaker system or sound bar that also has a HDMI ARC port so it can receive the audio. I purchased the Panasonic HTB10 soundbar and it works well with the TV. The TV also powers the unit off through SimpLink when the TV is powered off (nice). I like this over optical audio, since optical audio doesn't allow you to control the speakers or volume using the TV remote. Make sure your HDMI cables are 1.4 HDMI, or the sound bar may not show up in the SimpLink list of devices. I feel that using HDMI ARC for the audio is actually better than using RCA since it allows controlling the external device, but LG still should add RCA audio out options on TV's of this caliber. Hooking the Headphone out audio to an amplified speaker system does not work well for me, as I had to crank the volume all the way up on both the TV and Stereo system. Two other things I would like to see are: 1) an option to have the popup dialog that pops up when it detects 3d source input, to disappear on its own after a few seconds. It's annoying to always have to find the TV remote and press enter to get rid of that prompt everytime I insert a 3d disc in my blue ray player. and 2) an option under the 2D to 3D convert options to just 3D the entire image and not try to be "smart" about the 2d to 3d conversion. The TV seems to guess what is in the foreground, and often is wrong, and it makes for a weird nausiating experience sometimes. Panasonic 3d Blue Ray players have a 2D to 3D ability also, and it appears they simply 3d the entire image, which to me presents a better image for things like landscape scenes. For example, beach scenes on the LG converted 2D to 3D mode, sometimes make the water appear higher than the beach or abnormally out of place. With the Panasonic Blue Ray BDT110 3d player, the same 2D to 3D converted scene looks a lot better. BTW I exchanged my LG BD670 3d player for this Panasonic player since the LG had audio "stutter" issues on an HD Moods "Hawaii" blue ray disk. I exchanged the disc and also exchanged the LG player, and it still stuttered, so the LG BD670 player has some stutter issues which I reported to LG. As for overal picture quality, it's great. Except for the fact that in 3d mode, you get cross talk if you are slightly above or below the TV. Head on though or from the side it's ok. I hear that Vizio passive 3d TVs do not have this problem. Standard def on this LG TV is good too. I tried a 46" Insignia before this, and the SD video quality was terrible. So I'm staying with the LG since I know you can't have everything. Also, I love the Magic Motion Remote. It's really nice not to have to deal with a bunch of buttons on a remote, and just point and click. The remote really is nice on web pages too, just like a mouse. I would like the Youtube app on this TV to get a better interface. It's annoying that it always wants to play a youtube video whether you selected one or not, especially when you open up the app.

  • Worst customer service ever!

We bought this on a Saturday. LG released a firmware update the same weekend. The firmware update download from the network, and the file they posted on the Internet is corrupted. The Smart TV won't access the network without the firmware update. I called LG customer service, and they were aware of the problems. They estimated it will take weeks to correct since all their software engineering is in Korea. So we end up with a new TV that doesn't work and the company can't get their firmware to download. Avoid this brand. I would give it an even lower rating if I could.

  • Excellent Picture Quality

This is our second LG TV, our first 47 inch screen, and the picture quality is superb, even in a brightly lit room. This TV features internet access with loads of apps and other features. We have a sound bar also with the TV, but the quality of sound and picture is remarkable, the HD is crisp and clear.

  • Great Value for $999.00

Nice TV. Found a good one for under $1,000.00. Great picture, no problems so far. Did add the 4 year warrenty for peace of mind.

  • Excellent TV

i bought this model because it was highly rated in consumers report. it has more bells and whistles than i will ever use. TV viewing is great, but it has many features with internet connectivity that i will never use like the widgets. I use the magic wand remote, but again it's not something you need. it is very easy to get around the menus, but again unless your are a techie gadget person, don't need all the extreme flexiblity. should have bought a similar model with less features and less money. I have streamed some Netflix movies and that worked great.

  • Great TV, pricey, CinemaNow card worthless

This is a great TV. If you turn the 'energy saving' stuff off then colors are saturated, contrast and brightness are great, and the horizontal viewing angle is excellent. The web browser is pretty slow and lame but it works. It is over-priced for an edge-lit LED LCD TV though, which brings me to my next point. I got the "free" $100 CinemaNow gift card, which convinced me to buy despite the high price. What a rip! I registered the gift card with CinemaNow.com but before I can stream any movies they demand a credit card. I just want to try before I buy. The CinemaNow gift card is worthless.

  • You can believe the other reviews

Bought based upon reviews of others and Consumers Report. The following represents my impressions. Setup: Had Best Buy Geek set it up but after watching him I think I could have done it. However, he did an excellent job of explaining everything. Picture Quality: Excellent. Didn't even need an tweek right out of the box. Blacks are black and color is excellent. Sound: Good. Load enough and clear. Salesman at Best Buy suggested we buy the sound bar but we don't need it. One note is that the Geek could not get my wireless headphones to work. Controls: We have it hooked up to a Time Warner HD box and have to use the Time Warner controller. However, the Magic Wand does work and is really nice comparted to Sony Google controller. Please note that when turning on the system you have to hold the power button down until it cycles through all the components or it won't turn on. We bought the LG Blue Ray dvd player and it works great. We don't usually buy an extended warrenty on anything but did buy it on this because of the built in internet. Hovever, please be aware that you can't really surf the internet directly according to the Geek. You can buy a cable to hook up your laptop directly and then you can surf the net or watch anything on your computer like pictures. Please note that at least so far it has had several updates that come up when you first turn it on. It says do you want to update now. There is no place to click yes. It says updating now. You need to just let it set untill it finishes and the picture will come on. So far we would recommend it .

  • Very Nice Picture Quality

Received about what I expected. Wished the user manual was more detailed. There are a ton of features not even mentioned in the users manual nor even how to adjust or use them. As expected the sound is not too bad from such a thin tv.

  • Good starter LED-LCD

I had been toying with replacing an older 42" LCD TV with a 3D TV, but went into the store and just wasn't impressed with 3D (maybe in the future it'll change my mind) - ok it's not for everyone. This unit is a great alternative. It does say on the Best Buy description that Wi-Fi is built in to the unit - it is NOT built in. There is a wireless dongle that comes with it, but if you buy this thinking there is 'built in WiFi' you will be disappointed. I also saw a review elsewhere that said this TV would have Pandora, but it does not. Pandora does not have an app for ANY LG TV. Its not that big of a deal. I'm not very impressed with how to access the internet apps and having to use a Wii like wand to do so..... The facebook app is very limited, as is the Twitter app, but they are good if you just want to look at status and updates. Picture is crisp and clear, especially with video games, as I have a PS3 hooked up to it and will have an Xbox on it soon. If you want a good LED-LCD TV for a low price, you won't go wrong with this TV

  • Great tv, DLNA works great

I wanted a thin TV that I could hang on the wall and stream movies to. This set is full DLNA capable, some sets will say DLNA, but all you can do is look at pictures from your computer, so be careful because all DLNA are not equal. I have over 200 dvd movies on my networked hard drives and I can stream wireless to the TV. the wireless card is included even though it doesn't say that on the site (sales person had no clue either). Netflix works great also. You can browse the web, but it does not support flash.....come on LG........, that would have made this set even better. The picture quality is very nice, I have not had any issues with the sound. it is backlit with full array, edgelit is usually on lower quality sets. I have this TV in my game room and I love it. I was going to get the 47 LE 5400, glad I didn't. This set even came with a free LG - Internet Connectable / Wi-Fi Capable Blu-ray Disc Player Model: BD640. In my opinion its the best tv on the market, I'm a techie guy who streams everything to multi computers, cell phne, wii, xbox and playstation3, my home alarm cameras are also connected to my network, I also use orb.

  • Picture is great; having sound issues, though.

When we first got the TV, we were disappointed with the picture quality as well as most of the "SmartTV" features were unavailable in the US. LG put out a firmware update that opened up the internet content and made the picture quality what you would expect from a HDTV. Two issues: 1) Even though you can browse the web, it does not support "flash" so you cannot watch videos on the web. 2)The sound cuts in and out in high audio scenes. We notice it most on Disney channel as most of their programming contains musical numbers. Having researched this problem, it appears that LG is notorious for this sound problem and the fix it to trade-in the tv, have someone come out to fix the sound board, or to not use the tv speakers and route all your sound through your stereo. I think I am going to have to try the trade-in route first as I do not want to have to use my stereo all the time to watch TV. If a new set fixes the problem, I will change my review...Just not an issue you would expect when spending $1400 on a TV.
